Dane Murphy - ex-CEO

As a CEO, if you don't have a watertight contact WTF are you doing? If promises were made after the deal, you'd get the board to agree them in a renumeration memo. That's the first job of a CEO, IMHO.

Absolutely not being a twat here, but just 'cos I've heard it wrong on TV and at work about 5 times in the past 48 hours, it's 'remuneration'.

Yes it is, you're quite right.

Auto correct in this case.

What I am always concerned about on this forum is that we do not have enough conspiracy theories, my own take is that this goes back to the pre season when SC was so annoyed with ANO (as reported by DT, leaking of contract etc.) was the ANO in fact DM getting ahead of himself and since then the relationship has been fragile? After all it took a well publicised dinner with the big man EM to resolve the contract situation and for SC to sign. Was SC very unhappy with the way recruitment was run and in fact that meeting precipitated the sackings of GS and AS, did he feel he was not having enough discussions with DM and team?
Since the signing of his new contract we all know our results have improved significantly, perhaps another part of that discussion was that he needed a football man to liaise with in the form of FG, prior to his appointment we had rumours of other DOF appointments. It would appear EM has backed him to the hilt and wants to back him in the transfer window.

in the meantime we have appointed two very experienced people to the management team in the form of Commercial and Communications. Having just listened to SC news conference you could not say he seemed in anyway concerned by the departure of DM and talked glowingly regarding his relationship with the DOF/FG. In fact you could come to the conclusion that the way he handled his contract situation and the success he has enjoyed in getting the structure he wants was a very well thought through strategy on his part.
Interesting thoughts M&M.

It surely can't be a coincidence that the sackings of the recruitment team was in the same timeframe as Cooper's new contract. If you ignore all the guff and noise, to me it looks like the club is fully behind Cooper and he is pushing for a restructure rather than we are forcing a restructure onto Cooper.

I think SC's words today are quite telling - but i'll have to see the words for myself in the presser when it's uploaded.

I'm totally relaxed about this. We all make massive assumptions about the role he has played, and what he has actually been responsible for, though he should be massively lauded for bringing in Cooper. However he also let Hughton stay on for far too long, ticketing remains a mess and we couldn't get a sponsor.
My take too.

Speculation is part & parcel these days, with no mention of Coopers name in the exit statement & Cooper seemingly speaking highly of Giraldos involvement, Im going to assume Murphy was after Coopers head after Leics & the owners have made their choice.

From where I see it, the most important cog is Steve Cooper, he's still here, so we move on.

Having listened to the part uploaded by Sky - Cooper is being very diplomatic. Clear though that has reported to Filipo for a while and has been told by him to focus on coaching the team not on transfer ins and outs. Looks like he is given a squad and asked to coach them. He has little responsibility for transfers.

I'd speculate he has some say though?

Just listened to Coopers conference on Sky. He was asked about Dane but side stepped each question. Looks like Cooper and Murphy didn’t get on.
I really hope that isn't the case, but Steve has been very publicly highly complimentary about his day-to-day relationship with Giraldi in a way that he never was with Murphy.

Could it possibly be that Dane is a highly-efficiant Championship-level administrator?

Far be it for me to dispute what you say, but are you stating a solid fact or merely your opinion?

He says in the presser - Filipo asked him to focus on the coaching - previously he says that he focuses on coaching , rather than he had been asked to.
He also says that the DOF has a direct relationship with other members of the coaching staff. No indication that he thinks any of this is a bad thing. Quite the opposite.

Hasn’t Murphy been a non-factor for quite a while now? As long as he’s replaced correctly, I don’t really care.

Input maybe, but not responsibility. He says (something like) I'm sure I'll be told when someone is coming in or out.
Once targets and potential signings have been identified, that suggests that the actual process of bringing the player(s) into the building is left solely to the recruitment people, as is normally the case at the top-level, not that Steve has no input in who those players are.

He said nothing has changed with Murphy's departure, he wants to focus on coaching & it's a collaborative effort and he is happy working with Filipo

Here it is, people can make up their own minds, sounds like DM departure will make minimal difference to how Cooper operates: https://www.skysports.com/watch/vid...y-the-same-despite-nottingham-forest-ceo-exit

So absolutely no change then as that was always his role as he articulated it from day one.

That would be my guess - Steve was saying similar last summer but we know he had a big say in at least one of those who came through the door.

Sorry, being dense, who/what is ANO??
