To be fair, Switzerland have had the easiest run of games in the tournament so far and it is making him look better, swap them with Japan and their run of games and they would have been out early in the group stages.

Manzambi and Embolo are to them what Kane is to England.

Manzambi especially, looks like a player who can run with the ball but actually keep it under control and produce something.

3 goals and 2 assists so far.

When was the last Forest player to score at a World Cup? I remember Roy scoring in 94 but I think it was just before we signed him. I have a vague memory of Van Hooijdonk scoring a header in 98 but that could be a false memory*. Anybody else?

*Just checked, he scored the 4th in a 5-0 win against South Korea.

England, Panama, Ghana, Portugal - has to be one of the hardest runs so far
or
Croatia, Ghana, Panama, Congo, Mexico - that's quite tricky as well
Especially for 2 sides ranked in the top 15 in the world - almost as though they didn't keep the top sides apart properly.

Some teams like Switzerland have had much easier runs

I don't think we have the time for that.

The season starts in a seven weeks and as it currently stands we're weaker as a squad than when we finished last season. We need to be decisive on fringe players, Syrianos needs to have made decisions already on outgoings in order to allow us to get most of our inbound transfers done within the next three weeks to give the squad the best possible pre-season as possible.

Yep, two flashes of magic, the header on his debut and a well taken non-goal against Fulham that was marginally offside.

Apart from those two things he's been absolutely dreadful. One of the worst players I've seen for us in the Premier League actually.

Not sure I agree with the earlier post saying he's had a decent World cup. I didn't see last night but watched all the Swiss games before that and he was crap.

I think Glasner will take a look at him...and quickly decide he's not good enough.

Don't get me wrong I think he still has an enormous amount to prove and I'm not sure he will. But if the club's social media output during the World Cup is anything to go on they still see him as an important player. I suppose that might just be because he's our only player left in it. (Other than Anderson technically I suppose 😢)

I agree and pre-season can be very tricky to assess players. The very nature of it is not conducive to it and your opinion is unlikely to change on most during that time. We need to have determined who we want to move on and probably add a couple more to that very quickly once Glasner has arrived.

The media team are focused on engagement. It's nothing more than them using the world cup and one of our players being there as a tool to draw eyes onto the club.

That's more to do with Portugal not winning their group and Switzerland managing to win theirs (which was not as much of a surprise to be fair).
