DAB Radio Nottm and Forest

Is it me, or can you only get the Notts County coverage on DAB? Forest are on 103.8 on FM, but the other Notts frequency seems to be the one they've put on DAB, so you get Counteh on there.

Am I talking tripe here, or is this right? If so, we should all moan.

I'm too busy moaning about the fact that even DAB radio coverage of Forest doesn't stretch as far as Peterborough. Pile of rubbish.

EDIT: Although you do have a point - considering Notts fan base is largely the wrong side of 70, surely there aren't many that have joined the digital 'revolution'??

You are correct and I'm sure it's with good reason. :)

Something to do with wider mass coverage I expect although I'm guessing.

You can only get Notts County on DAB radio because only old people have DAB radios.

The reason, simply, is that the BBC - who are supposed to be championing DAB, don't actually think things through.

A bit of thought would see them do the 103.8 content as secondary content on the primary digital broadcast, like Radio5 & 5Live Sports Extra.

Mind you, since they can't even get 16:9 right on telly 9/10ths of the time, I shouldn't hold your breath...

I emailed Radio Nottingham about this a couple of years ago and their response was basically this -

103.8 covers a larger area of the county than 95.5 does so to strengthen the coverage of 95.5 they double up on DAB.
The only tiime you will get Forest on DAB is when Notts County are not playing so the playoffs will be on DAB for example.

Don't you also get Forest on Medium Wave which means it can be picked up at much greater distances than DAB or FM.
