Good afternoon Thomas.

Surely we can find a decent pair of fullbacks in the lower divisions. I won't miss Christie.....decent going forward but got skinned too many times by wingers.....including the one on Saturday..

Despite a 15 game period where he had a relative purple patch and didn’t embarrass himself, the rest of the season he was absolutely gash. Take away his crossing and he really was a very limited player in a key position in the modern game...
I don’t really care what wages he was on-we can definately do better than this...

I do actually care about the wages he’s on because:
1. Half the season he was gash.
2. Forest consistently gives money away to so called “professionals”.
3. Forest cant pay staff a livable wage because of these “professionals”.

Jordan Gabriel and Jayden Richardson deserve the opportunity to try and stake a claim for the place. JG in particular had a few games under Sabri last season, so you’d hope a playoff push at Blackpool has developed him to be ready to push for our starting RB spot.

Whoever wrote JL-G's wikipedia page can't decide what way round his surnames are though...

Fortunately, you're no longer billed per letter on shirts...

Given that he couldn't get anywhere near the Forest Green Rovers starting XI this season, Richardson is probably a million miles away from being able to play for Forest at the moment.

Gabriel should get a chance, but we should also sign another right back so we aren't putting all our eggs in one basket and have cover/competition.

I’m sorry I’m not sure Jenkinson is worse-we’ve barely seen him play.

To be honest it would be like 2 bald blokes fighting over a comb-shit and shitter, take your pick.

Sorry but you are well wrong here. Like it or lump it, apart from the opening month or two Christie has been one of the better fullbacks in the division. People have been waiting all season to jump down his throat but he gave such little ammunition for the entire 2nd half of the season.

If there is a deal to be done he should be signed, he is a solid Championship RB, no more no less.

We have conceded 45 goals this season, the least amount of goals for 11 years - he played almost every game and is a big part of that.

He’s almost 29, I’d rather us give a chance at our young players and cheaper solid players from league 1/2.

Jayden Richardson or Lawrence-Gabriel, these two are our future let’s not regress into expensive older players.

I don't disagree that Richardson / Gabriel should get their chance - but I just think the wisest thing to do is to sign Christie & have the best of those 2 as his competition. If they turn out to be better than him & he ends up on the bench then that is fine for me.

There are numerous problem positions in the squad, it would be a waste potentially creating another problem position. If Cyrus was already on our books people wouldn't be saying that was a position that needs improving.

He’s been one of our better players, and given our excellent defensive record it would be best if we had some stability in the back 5. I’d prefer him to be first choice again next season, but it sounds like he’s gone for good.

Well it’s a cyclical argument-you say potato and all that...
I’m certainly not going to get silly and unpleasant disagreeing with you, on the quality (or other of Christie) but it would seem that CH and the team are not pushing to sign him....

First Team Squad
The Athletic's Fulham writer has done a piece following their relegation stating they're expecting the promotion team to come back, and whilst some loan players were mentioned in it (Kebano, Sessegnon, Kamara) no mention of the Forest loanees so I asked.

"Not sure on either at the moment, Mark. Told Fulham expecting their playoff team back so potentially opens the door to return, but will have to see."

They're well stocked at right back with Tete, Odoi, Sessegnon and Christie - the latter three were all involved there last season, you'd think at least one will leave.

As you say Ash, by the looks of things, Jayden has possibly gone slightly backwards when compared with his loan at Exeter. I know he had an injury early in the season, but on the odd occasion he has made it onto the pitch for FGR it's been as a sub, and usually late-on at left-back.

Why people make uninformed claims about him stepping-up to compete for a starting place here next season is beyond me, as much as I'd like to see him do well.

On Saturday, FGR needed to win to ensure they got into the play-offs. It was 0-0 on he was subbed on, on 58 minutes and he won them a penalty which they scored and they ended up winning 3-0 and got into the play-offs.

Whilst he may not have been starting enough he has still racked up over 30 appearances this season and nearly 70 over 2 seasons and could be at Wembley for a 2nd year in a row.

What I will say is, with loans... not all can be determined by how many games you start because a lot can come down to coaches too and they have fired their coach recently.

I've long been a big believer Jayden and if we need an attacking right-back option I wouldn't be afraid of allowing him to be part of a higher level environment where he can learn from Hughton and better players and he can still contribute here.

That's a new model. It's BS, but under the current farce of the loan system coupled with the PL money perhaps it's the best way to go.

Yo-yo clubs to have a promotion squad they retain and loan out when they take their sabbatical in the PL.

Agreed. Fulham learnt from their last promotion/relegation. So in a way at least they not being reckless and it is exploiting the system for sure.

They had a lot of Championship level players under contract so just loaned them out and seemed to add a lot of loans this season ie Areola, Andersen, Aina, Lemina, Loftus-Cheek, Lookman, Maja came in on loan in case they got relegated they could just send them back.

They loaned out Bettinelli, Christie, Sessegnon, Le Marchand, Johansen, Seri, Kebano, Kamara, Knockaert who was in their promotion squad(s) and who come back.

That IS informed BR.

As I said earlier, I'd like to see Jayden do well, and hopefully with us. The ideally-perfect situation for me would be Hughton having the confidence in him and Jordan Gabriel competing for the right-back position, with the added option of Richardson being able to move across to the other side of the pitch should the need arise.

What a ridiculous state football's transfer market is in though.

We did them a favour by taking two of their promotion squad whilst they were gone. The least they could do in return is take Arter back too.
