No, I am absolutely certain that before the city coat of arms was adapted, a figure of Robin Hood adorned the shirts, before my time though.

Cant beleive you dont recognise that badge!

Look at Annesley Red's avatar.

Prior to WW2 the shirts had no badge.

The first picture I have after the war is the 1949 squad and the badge then was "The Forester" which was basically a skinny chap in a silly hat. Definitely not Robin Hood but there is room for confusion.

I will try and put some scans up later.

Just been browsing Ken Smales' "Forest - The First 125 Years" book - and there are some VERY old pics, all showing Forest players with badge-less shirts right up until about the Second World War. Beyond that, see link above!

I'm sure I too, like Sedge, has seen a ye olde kit with a robin hood figure on it. Can't find any reference though.

There's a book somewhere with some ace old posed team photos though, featuring players smoking pipes and striking manly poses on fallen trees and suchlike.

We should take photos like that now.

I'll scan some of the pics from Ken's book tomorrow. :)
