Contracts, Contracts, Contracts...

Just had a thought about the contract situation at Forest, wouldn't now be the perfect time to give new contracts to players whose contracts run out in the summer of 2011, this would give us a boost for the close of the season, and also provide us with a clear view of where we will stand in the January transfer market.

Of the players in our squad, as far as a I can tell, this is where they stand -

Goalkeepers -
Lee Camp - Summer 2013
Paul Smith - Summer 2011
Karl Darlow - Summer 2011

Defenders -
Ryan Bertrand - Loan til January/ Chelsea contract expires in Summer 2011
Luke Chambers - Summer 2012
Wes Morgan - Summer 2012
Kelvin Wilson - Summer 2011
Chris Gunter - Summer 2013
Joel Lynch - Summer 2012

Midfielders -
Paul anderson - Summer 2011
Lewis McGugan - Summer 2012
Chris Cohen - Summer 2013
Paul McKenna - Summer 2012
Guy Moussi - Summer 2011
Matt Thornhill - Summer 2011
Radoslaw Majewski - Summer 2013
Robbie Gibbons - Summer 2011

Strikers -
Dele Adebola - Summer 2011
Robert Earnshaw - Summer 2011
Nathan Tyson - Summer 2011
Garath McCleary - Summer 2012
David McGoldrick - Summer 2013
Dexter Blackstock - Summer 2013
Nialle Rodney - Summer 2011

Also, in June 2010, Forest offered 4 year contracts to Mark Byrne (CM), Karlton Watson (CB), Tom Mullen (CF), Zannettos Mytides (GK) and Kieron Freeman (RB).. Keeping them at the club until at least Summer 2014, are these players eligible to play in the first team?! None of them have featured, apart from Mark Byrne making the odd appearance on the bench, I also understand Karlton Watson is injured for a fairly long time..

So if these are all correct (please let me know of any mistakes), then we should really be looking to offer contracts to -
Darlow - not really proven, but we need a back up GK
Smith - most likely will go
Bertrand - Chelsea contract expires summer 2011, so might be able to get him on a permanent?? He was considering signing a permanent deal with Reading last season apparently..
Wilson - make your own minds up about this one!!
Anderson - I would probably say he is pretty vital to the squad, and has great potential
Moussi - Again, sign him up..
Thornhill - Cant see him breaking into the first team, maybe cash in, and use the money on Pratley!!
Gibbons - Unproven!?
Adebola - unless he is being replaced, we need to sign him up.. he is the only striker we have who is good in the air and can hold the ball well
Earnshaw - talks are ongoing
Tyson - make your own minds up
Rodney - maybe one for the future, get him signed up, and send him on lean

Does this worry anybody!?

So what we're saying is we might lose Robbie Gibbons in the summer?

I don't know about everyone else, but I'd be a little bit sad.

I've just had 'Gibbons 42' printed on my shirt. I'd be gutted if he left.

You'd be lost without me the hockleyhustler probably wouldn't bother getting out of bed if I was let go

If we let Robbie Gibbons go there'd be a half arsed embarrassing car park protest, that's for sure.

I believe the Gibbons is our are future
Teach him well and let him lead the way
Show him all the beauty he possesses inside
Give him a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the Gibbons laughter remind us how we used to be
Everybody searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone to fulfill my needs
A lonely place to be
So I learned to depend on me

Ando's contract runs out in the summer? Why on earth did we only sign him on a 2 year deal.

As far as I know Bertrand signed a 5 year extension with Chelski. That said he's never going to get in their team so this was probably to make sure he doesn't go on a free. As much as I'd love us to sign him permenantly in Jan, can't see it happening, an extension for rest of season should be a must imo.

Anderson's deal expires in 2012. There's some doubt over McGugan, the NEP and his profile on the OS says he signed a new deal last year but I can't ever remember it being announced.

Gunter recently signed an automatic extension 'til 2014.

I doubt the young lads you mention signed 4 year deals, either. Byrne especially.

It's Baggio said:

Good ode Gunter, I can imagine he'll turn out to be something of a Forest stalwart.
