Clearly - I have my own reasons for wanting Reading to win tonight, but I'm happy to see Forest survive too.

Here's hoping that we join you in safety next weekend.

All the best everyone!

BRF, Your second team has got to be Forest

Norwich, had good spells of the ball, but didn't do anything with it. McDonald looked alright thats about it.

Norwich to go down, Cya Clingan.

I've no problem with either team but it feels like Norwich's turn to go down - to have more 'name' teams in the third tier can only be a rebirth for those who don't sink even lower and a great opportunity for the lower division teams to increase their gate and away travel.

Whoever it is, it's not the end of the world. We spent three seasons down there, said goodbye to grounds like belle vue - the lower teams are stirring and the occasional new stadia generate attention and probable recovery, the new place didn't do Doncaster any harm. So it is a very different league campaign next season for the relegatee and unfair but typical fan attention on the early cup games - the Johnson's or whatever trophy feels like yours by right - you are punching below your weight in regular terms... and the other two cup competitions always demand at least an upper champ or prem team following an easy despatch of some lower or newly-equivalent opposition. The gates will be down, but you find out who the real supporters are, some players leave, there's a whole new debate in terms of who is reasonable and who could do a job for the team in getting them back up. In all our three years down there I never really got to grips with the names and talents of the lower leagues, as if I was deliberately not paying attention to the non-Forest games of the league I was in and below <ahem>. Likewise the Premiership lost all interest for me, a massive influx of foreign somebodies and Gary f***ing Linekar made it a chore to follow without Sky, who are no angels. I couldn't bear to think about the Championship, as it felt like at least where we should be.

Still, Barnsley don't have our Clough/ Taylor, Clough and Clarke periods to live up to, three amazing teams in this thirty-two year-old's memory... with all due respect Barnsley going down is not the indignity it would be for the Norwich team who preceded Clarke's Forest in European funtimes in the mid-nineties. You can't forget that team - Fox, Gunn, Sutton. They would turn you over without breaking a sweat on their day.

A season down there is a season down there, that's all. My only advice to the unlucky team is don't make it three if you can help it. Also don't employ Nigel when he gets the boot at Xmas along with an unfortunate Norwich/Barnsley manager.

On balance though, Barnsley can mix it up on their day and the Canaries look to have f**ked it right now. All in all it's been quite an interesting league for us all to be part of.

Cheers, BRF! I was trying (emphasis on TRYING!!) to programme next week's rather complicated film times this evening, but was more than a little distracted by the radio on....several Forest fans in the floor staff badgering for information didn't help either. If you come to the pictures next week and you get the wrong film, or the right film at the wrong time, you'll know why.....

I confess to shedding a few tears of happiness at full time.

With Plymouth safe, hopefully they'll be less motivated, and safety will be yours.

Best of luck! Whatever happens, do stay around - I'm sure we'll be playing each other in one league or another sooner or later.

:)

McDonald looked fast and that was about it. Rubbish player, and players like that are why they are going down.

Damn right but the commentator and Birtles were bumming him because he used to be a scaffolder.

Thought Birtles might of sounded a bit happier when Reading took the lead :).

I spoke to some Burnley and Blackpool fans in the pub after saturdays game. They were asking if we were safe and all that. Stayed around for the results and when Wolves equalised me and my mates jumped up and down in our Forest shirts. Everyone was like i know why there happy and was wishing us all the best before we headed back for the B&B. Not a bad crowd of people in general.

Can't wait till next season now. Gonna be a tough old league.

Finally thanks BRF. All the best against Plymouth.

Best of luck BRF. Thanks for your kind words - you've proved over the weeks that you're OK. However, the main reason I want your lot to stay up is that I really enjoyed my trip to Barnsley this season - a better pub on the journey and a fairly comfortable stand (although a few more thousand seats for our fans would be nice). Hope you win Sunday!
