It's something that has been mentioned a couple of times in this thread, but something which many people don't realise.

A good few years ago, Forest's secretary was given a rather terse reminder by the FA that he hadn't replied to the invitiation which offered Forest a place in that season's FA Cup competition, and would he be kind enough to do so asap, or else..

You have not only to be an FA-affiliated club but you also have to rsvp to the invite to play in the Cup.

By the same token, to get in to [insert name of European tournament], you have not only to finish in a particular position in your national league, but YOU MUST ALSO SATISFY THE OTHER RULES AND CONDITIONS PURSUANT TO ENTRY.

Crystal Palace did not satisfy those rules.

That's it, really.

So why all this faffing around ?
Because they're being silly. I guess there wouldn't be the desire to kick a team out, other than that they have already done so once this season.

if they have rules they should stick to them, no exceptions, no faffing around. Palace either qualify in which case the multi-ownership rule is a scam or they don't and they should lose their place and it should be reallocated.

The Lyon situation is separate and if they don't qualify because of their relegation then France should send another team.

Just get it sorted... Like with City and Chelsea and our leagues, they aren't wanting to enforce rules but it's OK when they want to dock points off of Everton

Financial hearing now due next Friday, the 11th, so everyone can stand down for now, as you were.

Then UEFA's hearing will be the following Friday. They always make it a Friday so they can shut the office and nobody has to respond over the weekend. By the time Monday comes most of the flack has gone and the world has moved on a bit. Textbook

Is this being live streamed, if so what time and where as I want to ensure that I can watch it and not be disturbed. If the weathers good I might even invite a few mates round for a BBQ and few beers to watch it with me.

I'll lend you my big screen and projector as I won't need it. We've hired out the Odeon and I've got the caterers sorting canapés for 120 covers.

It's due to be live on Forest TV with commentary from Colin Fray and expert analysis from David Friio.

I think you made a typo with June instead of July, but the first fixtures of the Conference ( first qualifying round) are on the 8th July ( St Joesephs v Cliftonville and Floriana v Haverfordwest).

St Joseph’s is a primary school round the corner from me. Brilliant for them that they’ve qualified for European football

I think it is - though be aware it's unlikely to be subtitled and if they get the decision over the line it will be subject to VAR

Is this an actual article or just some forum drivel?

Funny either way, but probably libelous if actually published somewhere properly.

So the word on the street is that Lyon need some €200m to be ‘actively available in the club’s accounts’ to escape relegation and they need 50% of that in there in the next 7 days. So can they find €100m, sharpish..... it can come from a new or existing shareholder I believe.

It's on a CP forum, and it's libellous-ness (if that's a word) doesn't depend on where it's published. If something is libellous, it doesn't matter if it's on a forum or a news site, and both the poster and the publisher (in this case a forum) could both be liable. Forum management can try and argue that they are not liable if it goes to court IF they have removed the offending comments quickly, but it's by no means a defence.

We would like to welcome our newest shareholder to Eagle Football Holdings Ltd, Mr Evangelos Marinakis

It's already libelous as it's written down and we're all our own publishers these days.

True - though there's probably less appetite to go after random posters on social media than actual news sites, or even "news" sites.

Yep for sure, though it depends on what's posted, from what I read on there it'd struggle to meet the threshold. Also of course it depends on how much money the accused might have to settle, so yeah a random bloke on the internet is unlikely to be worth it.
