Commons Against Blackpool

Jack Burkitt
Just something that crossed my mind last night, does anybody think we'd have faired any better in last season's play-offs with that fat **** in our side?

Team that day ...

  • 01 Camp
  • 02 Perch yellow card (McGoldrick 82)
  • 05 Morgan
  • 06 Wilson
  • 16 Gunter
  • 15 Cohen
  • 18 McKenna (Anderson 78)
  • 28 Majewski
  • 10 Earnshaw
  • 11 Tyson
  • 23 Blackstock (Adebola 78)

no he would of gone missing during the game like he always did and probably made it harder for us, ramsey and tudgay in that side mind you and we might just of beat em

No,

The fat twat would've wasted the opportunities that we did have.
Besides, who would he have pushed out of that team?

I think the only way he would have broken into the team at the time would have been if one of them had a KFC or Maccy D's

Why on earth would that just cross your mind?!

I think the bloke behind me was banging on about how good he was at times, and the "up the football league we go" chant made my mind wander to our last promotion charge ... weird where your mind wanders sometimes eh lol

I think think, regardless of his actions in the heat of the moment, that in a good team (which he isn't) then he'd do well. He's easily good enough for this level, doubtful whether he'd make the step up to the next.

No, I don't think he would have made a difference. On his day he can change matches, but it wasn't really the front men that were the problem. From what I recall when it went further up the field we looked like scoring, it was the defence going awol that caused the problems that night. Along with perhaps a little bit of inexperience and naivety.

Grudgingly (and most people on here will know how much I hate Direby and Commons), he looked class at times last night. He can hold the ball and is surprisingly quick. He would have looked good in the Reds team last night ............. if he wasn't such a complete twat. In other circumstances, we could sign him, get him to help us to get promotion, then discard the fat get like you'd wipe dog shit from the underside of your shoe.

Commons is a quality player. With 12-13 goals from midfield at the halfway point of the season this speaks for itself. However, the guy is a prat for leaving Forest at a time when we had good upward momentum. Fair enough if a top club came in for him, but moving to a relegated (and humiliated) Derby team undergoing wholesale changes in the squad.....that was a stupid career move. I'm sure he earned a bit more cash, but I have a feeling he'll look back on that as a poor decision in a few years time.

It's a real pity he wasn't such a prat, because the left-side of our midfield has been a soft spot for 2-3 years now. I'm confident we'll finally fill the void this January, but Commons would have been the ideal 'free' solution if only he'd stayed.

To answer your question, I don't know if he'd have made much difference in the Blackpool match but I reckon he could have been worth another 6-9 point in the league that season (if his form was similar to what it is now). I expect him to leave Derby when his contract expires, and do reasonably well for a low-ranking Premiership team next season.
