Colin Cooper vs Lyon 95

Ive finally found a video of this, that noone else ever seemed to remember, but I remember howling with laughter when I spotted it on the replay!

We get the penalty, Psycho steps up and it's save only for McGregor to slot in the rebound, but keep your eye on Colin Cooper who get's a bit friendly with the post lol

I remember that. My mate had it on video and we nearly wore the tape out rewinding and replaying it.

Went home and way throughout this cup run - great memories

We were poor this match but scraped it

Anyone remember same year the way Auxerre absolutely played us off the park at The City Ground

We won 1-0 away and then at home I have never seen a team before or since dominate a match against us like Auxerre did and only draw 0-0

I remember one of the Auxerre players at the end of the game sat with his hands on his head in tears in the middle of the pitch on his own because he could not believe how they hadn't beaten us

All the rest had left the pitch - one of the auxerre coaches had to go back out and fetch him off the pitch

Still can't believe it myself - they gave us a football lesson that night

"One team in Europe..."

Those were heady days, as an 11 year old I thought they'd last forever.

Bryan Roy before he got mardy, Stoney, Woany, Psycho, Big Norm who was absolutely superb during that run.

Chet's header in the Olympic Stadium that the German director missed because he was too busy showing replays of Bayern's potshots in the first half.

Then the crushing home defeat against a very, very good Munich side.

Best bit of it all was singing "One nil down and out of Europe" to Man Yoo that year

You and me both, mate - home and away throughout that legendary run! (well I was young and foolish).

Indeed Auxerre, under their wily coach Guy Roux, didn't half give us the run around.

To bo honest, my best memory of that run was stumbling in to a bar in Munchen, only to discover it seemingly packed with Bayern fans.

They looked us up and down, and said "ah - you are Nottingham, yes?" and proceeded to get us plastered on Erdinger Weissbier (which I retain a taste for to this day) I was extremely grateful to my grammar-school German teacher!

We had such a good laugh that we organised to meet some of them before the return leg, which we managed to do and returned the favour.

Even after the (disappointing) result, we met up again - us to drown our sorrows, them to celebrate, and we swapped shirts, I still cherish that red/blue striped Bayern shirt hanging in my wardrobe (and presumably, there's a German bloke with a red Forest "Shipstones" jersey somewhere in Munchen).

Happy, happy days - let's hope we can get back to challenging for that sort of run again - I know exactly how the Fulham fans feel this season!

We toured Europe with a huge cardboard cutout of Stuart pearce - it was given pride of place in a sports bar in Munich - it may even still be there

I remember it well. We got tickets for the first and only time in the corner of the Upper Bridgford. I think we cleared something like 4 shots off our goal line that day and three of them were cleared by Ian Woan - that’s how outplayed we were! Auxerre’s line-up included a City Ground debut for one Sabri Lamouchi and it was indeed Taribo West who sat on the pitch in disbelief for something like ten minutes before someone came and fetched him.

My late grandad's one and only trip abroad in his whole life was to Munich.

He was by no means a Forest fan and found the whole trip to be underwhelming.

The plane was 'just a big bus', the food was the same and the buildings looked similar 'except they all look they were built in the 50's....'.

Loved that man, one of the happiest days of my life.

Whoops. So I have. It’s been a long day…
Christ on a bike, and I realise my reply from fifteen years ago (!) is still as valid as it would be today.

Only now I can spell the German words properly as I have nowadays a German keyboard.
