Club Policy on wages

Hi all, please accept my apologies if this is included elsewhere but I couldnt find it.

Can someone please explain the wage structure if they know it? Im having a hard time explaining it to some owl fans. I know for a fact we couldnt offer Ben Watson what he wanted from a Palace source and but it confuses me that we have some wage cap, yet we could sign Andy Cole. It seems obvious that even if we had bids accepted then wages would be a stumbling block. I would assume that had we offered Commons something, he would have left anyway as Derby offered him the world no doubt.

We don't have a wage cap, per se, so much as low basic wages with high appearance fees.

Essentially, if a player isn't performing, and as such isn't picked, then they don't just sit on the bench and collect their money.

Forest also refuse to give in to unreasonable demands. Ben Watson had a desire to be the highest paid at the club (supposedly), something that Forest wouldn't allow. They had offered something like double what he was on at Palace, but he turned it down.

The wage structure basically rewards those who do well, and doesn't waste money on those who have no real interest in playing, or playing well.

...what Crouch said...and everyone else except the playing/coaching staff on minimum wage...

Basically, the policy is to offer about 75% of what the player wants, that way we never actually sign anyone and Mark Arthur doesn't have to bother with all that pesky paperwork.

How much is lets say Davies is on a week?

Also does anyone have an idea on how much Cloughie was when he was at Forest?

Cloughie had an official wage, but then there were unofficial bonuses (so to speak).

Not enough for what he did for our beloved club.

I heard Davies was on over ÂŁ700k a year.

Ben Watson demanded around ÂŁ20k a week, when he was 'only' on ÂŁ4k a week at Palace.

His heart was obviously not to play for Forest, but to earn shed loads of money. I think Forest made the right call in not signing him, no matter how good he is.

I don't know how much he was on, but he didn't need it. His pay off from Leeds set him up for life.

It does make me laugh the way people often forget about this!
