Whilst Cloughie had a reputation of turning "rough diamonds" into "gems" do you think he would have been able to do anything with Joey Barton?

Nope that lad is rotten to the core. His dad should have had a w**k over his favourite porn mag instead of nobbling his wife the night that thing was conceived.....

Accoring to wiki:
"He (Barton) underwent trials at Nottingham Forest, but was rejected when it was decided he was too small to become a footballer."

Didn't know that!

You sound like your talking from experience. Best not post stuff like that on a family forum eh? :)

Seriously though he can't have any chances left surely? Who would want to sign him as well? A real odious waster who deserves all the greif he gets...

lol

I've never tried it, in honesty. I suppose you'd need to dry it out first really.

He's done himself no favours at all, has he?

I imagine Newcastle would love to be rid of him, but won't want to be paying off his contract (how long is he contracted for?).

Surely there's a "disciplinary" clause - a gross misconduct sort of thing - in his contract that would allow him basically to be sacked?

Hasn't he signed a 4-year contract extension at the beginning of last year?

Yes. If I recall from the reports this morning, he's got 3 years remaining.

I doubt it, in the age of agents and player power can you imagine a player signing such a contract?

Add to the fact that Newcastle United are run by a bunch of clowns and I think we have the answer without needing the facts to confirm!

Like Flagman said there must be enough reason to just rip his contract up? I spose the PFA would have something to say but I can't see a court in this land stopping Newcastle void the contract if they so wished..... Let's hope so. He signed a 5 year contract and has been at Newcastle 2 years I think....

...but in the age of Joey Barton et al., can you imagine a club offering a contract that offers no means to rid yourself of a liability?

Joey Barton is a waste of spunk and eggs.

Newcastle seem to take every other sides' unwanted or problematic players off them - one of the main reasons they are in the shite really I guess.

Any club but Newcastle I could countenance it, but with the Toon Army, yes, I can not only imagine it - I would EXPECT it! lol
