It wasnt. It was only when you rightly pointed how ridiculous Congo's post was that it conveniently became tongue in cheek 😆
Rude.

It was written tongue-in-cheek, hence the very particular choice of language. If you want to take it out of context, that's on you, I really don't need to justify the glaringly obvious.

Depending on his fitness for the rest of the season, I wouldn't be massively against a year extension on a reduced wage. He's looked improved in his recent performances and would be reasonable backup if we had another man challenging Taiwo for starts.
You essentially sum up my feelings on this. His longer-term fitness this season is the main issue as he's demonstrated that he'll score the goals if he gets the service.

Definitely as a third striker though. I wouldn't be against a year's extension on those grounds but as Wickio suggests it should be on a massively reduced wage (probably half what he's on now) and with the very clear understanding that he's third choice.

Yeah, definitely wouldn't be as favourable if he was second in the pecking order, but I think he'd fill the role of third striker just fine.

I agree. Was not a fan last season, but I think he's been pretty decent this season and was definitely winning me over before his recent injury. If he's willing to take a reduced wage, I wouldn't be against extending his contract if he comes back from his injury, stays fit and continues to contribute like he has been doing so far this season.

If someone at the club decides to offer him an extension then they want shooting.

Who needs to take a bullet to make this happen then?

I’m sure the club will assess his fitness, performance, goals, contributions, wages, sale value, replacement players, overall squad etc nearer the time and then make an informed decision regarding his contract.

Doesn’t that equally count in regards to bringing someone of a higher standard than Origi / Wood in?

Surely the change in situation doesn’t just benefit your own standpoint?

…I think it’s important to note that I have not been hacked by Omar and his friends at Anonymous.

I just….agree with him?! 😳

Also we have just signed two keepers who according to reports both expect to be first choice. Whats the different between that and a centre forward? I'm agreeing to a point too, I'm not sure why its seen as quite so preposterous as it is.

I regret contributing to this thread :ROFLMAO:

I don't think it's preposterous fwiw, but I think the likes of Guirassy would have quite a few better options than Forest. Plenty of mid- to top-half PL teams need a good striker full stop, not just good competition for an existing good striker, so would presumably be more attractive destinations.

Vlachodimos was not much in demand as far as we know, which again is very much not the case with any strikers currently making a name for themselves in Europe's top leagues.

I dont disagree with any of that but whether they are in demand or not doesnt make any difference to their playing demands. Even if no-one wanted the keepers they could still expect to be No.1s for whatever reason.

This is based on an article on the athletic so not saying its gospel but it did say they both expect to be No.1

I'm not saying that striker in particular either, just in general. Was Taiwo in demand? Who knows.

I think we are talking about Guirassy in particular, because he happens to be both a forward with a proven record in a good league *and* someone we could afford, assuming his release clause applies. My point really is that if he does want to come to the PL, there will surely be better options for him than Forest, much as I'd like to be wrong. Hell, why wouldn't even the likes of Arsenal go for him if they can't get Toney?

Wood scored and had one narrowly chalked off for offside from through balls along the ground against Luton. He also scored from a cross from a full-back v SU, and also should have scored from a MGW cross v Luton. So I think (a) he can score goals that aren't crosses from the wings, and (b) whether we play orthodox wingers or not, he can score from crosses.

Aye, we played to Wood's strengths against Luton.

I'm sure Wood is jolly good at centre forwarding. But the number of games he's had with us just doesn't justify his wages and the praise heaped on him for the few things he's done well.

Surely we could get someone who will deliver just as much for so much less outlay and with more regular attendance, even if it is on the bench.

I am sure the club are looking at options in respect of Chris Wood.

The problem is that strikers - and good ones - are not easy to get hold of - We struck lucky with Awoniyi for example.

Or put another way, if it was easy for lower half teams to pick up good Premier League strikers from abroad for £10-£15m they'd all be doing it yet they haven't. And we're now looking to get a second when we have one already.

Not going to be easy but I'm sure the club have it in hand.

Just because we don't see things happening doesn't mean they aren't. We saw that in the summer.

I think this calls for Keinan Davis to return.

With him running into the box (carrying Wood on his back), then imagine all the goals that Wood would score from our imaginary wingers.

A modern day version of the visually challenged man and the one who struggles to get to the shops.

I've agreed with your posts, and even "liked" some of them as you know on occasions when you've made credible and/or sensible contributions. However, I'll continue to call out your trolling as and when I see fit.
