Last season Cohen was the main heart beat in our midfield. This season he has lacked any of the energy that he had in abundance last season by putting in a lot of leggy under par performances this season. Today the game passed him by with Cohen being a yard of the pace. Also his passing and decision making were very poor at times. If he put in one bad performance it will be fair as some players have bad games. But he has been consistently poor all season and today I was baffled when he stayed on the pitch where as Raddy and Lewis had more life in them. But. It looks like Cohen is Billy's blue eyed boy in which he will never get replaced even if he is consistently poor at the moment.
 
I agree. Similar with McKenna, I know he's the Captain but Billy will never drop him whether he's playing good or bad.
 
I'll freely admit that I don't see as many games as most of the regulars on here, but I thought he was our best player against Watford, and sounded like he did pretty well against Coventry.

Everyone's allowed a bad game now and again.
 
Agree that he's struggling to find his best form however unfortunately we have no similar moulded player to come in and give him a breather.

Really hope he picks up as he is my fave player by far and one that is always quick to acknowledge the fans both home and away.
 
Having a few bad performances do not make Cohen into a bad person because i do respect him with his views towards fans etc. But when he has performed so well he is an excellent footballer and is a credit to the club, But the most fustrating thing at the moment is that he is playing a shadow of his former self and i do wish him all the best to get to the level that we all know he can play to.
 
Thought he looked good today in terms of energy, it was his passing that let him down (similar to Gunter). He actually put some good corners in too.
 
He was excellent against Coventry, played in a more central role.

Today again he's been shifted out wider; I sometimes think for him to put in some consistent performances we need to see him in a more central role more often.

I know this is straying off topic somewhat, but Gunter has been very quiet for the last few games too. He didn't seem very sharp against Watford, and didn't contribute much today from what I heard.

Perhaps all this is pointing towards the lack of depth in the squad. I doubt whether Gunter or Cohen has had a proper break from first-team action (suspensions aside) for well over 18 months. If Moloney, Thornhill, and maybe some of the strikers (two up front could allow McGugan to cover for Cohen for a couple of games) were doing more to make themselves pickable, maybe we'd be able to rest some of the regulars.
 
I thought Cohen did ok today. Was a bit quiet start of the second half but came into it when McGugan went off. He played some nice passes, made himself available, drove forward a few times, picked up a few lose balls etc. General midfield play.

If you compare him to QPRs midfielders, he didn't really do any worse than them.

I don't see that he played noticeably worse than a lot of other players. He also put in two fantastic balls at the end, which is uncharacteristic of him. If you were looking to make a shout out to a player who looks like a complete turkey who has no idea how to even play football, look no further than Paul Anderson. The guy has been rubbish pretty much all year. He seems to have lost the confidence to even run.
 
There seem to quite a few players over the past few weeks who are suffering from a dip in form. Morgan, Blackstock and Cohen are giving 100% but look to be someway below their best. A bit worrying too, that this afternoon Gunter also looked to be under par as well - his distribution today was pretty poor. I hope they pick up form again quickly, as with the wafer this squad we have at the moment there is little chance that any of them can bve rested.
 
For christ's sake give the guy a break. He is getting shuffled from central midfield to left side to right side & occasionally full back! Tuesday night's game against Coventry was the perfect example - the first half saw Chris playing central in a five man midfield & we looked good. Second half we went 4 4 2 and he was pushed out wide - result we struggled. Leave him in his rightful central midfield slot and he will flourish as one of our key players for years to come.
 
Cohen and Gunter were both poor in the first half but is he a right winger now? I think he was below par today, But credit to QPR they never made it easy for us to play either. I do hope we keep hold of Bertrand i think he looked class
 
He knackers himself out when played wide, then when he is bought into the middle during the game he's done and mistakes are noticed more. He needs to be playing centre mid, he absolutely ran the show on Tuesday night.

The guy runs himself into the ground every game.
 
Whenever he's played central recently he's played well. Whenever he's played wide, he's not been as good. I wonder why...

We've looked much more fluent as a team, when he's played central as well.
 
His best role is clearly central mid. I just hope we don't lose him in the cesspit that is "utility player"
 
QPR had the perfect tactics to completely miss out our midfield. The ball was lumped up to Hulse most of the time OR given to Taarabt to donkey a 30 yard shot miles wide. Every corner we had they left 3 up top which meant we had to have at least 3 back leaving our corners pretty much ineffective. I could not understand or believe how Cohen stayed on the field yesterday but Anderson was a lot worse to be fair. The first half was strange, we played some good football at times but seemed to give the ball away too easily, Gunter, Anderson and Cohen were at fault on more than 1 occasion of doing this. Deli came on and I thought looked pretty good (or as good as can be expected). Still think that Blackstock is lost up front on his own, he needs his little welsh wingman
 
He has been well below last seasons level but suffers from being moved around all the time. Good energy and great desire but no ability to make a killer pass and finishing with head or foot is dire and always has been. I know he has scored a couple of belters but his conversion rate must be around 5% goals to shots ratio.
One of his best games on Tuesday but uninspiring again yesterday.If anyone came calling now with £3 million to spend we should snatch their hands off.
Rarely has a poor game in the centre but he will never be effective wide on the right nor will Anderson on the left. I bloody well hate that selection with a passion and honestly believe it costs us shed loads of points. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR
