"Nottingham Forest supporters have named Chris Cohen as their Player of the Year.

The midfielder beat Wes Morgan in a fans' poll and succeeds Julian Bennett as winner of the prestigious award.

Cohen will be presented with the award before this afternoon's season finale against Southampton by manager Billy Davies.

And he revealed: "When you look at the kind of people who have won the award before - and the history of it - it's very special to be among them.

"The most important thing this season was staying in the Championship but now we've done that, it's nice to get a personal accolade."

Manager Billy Davies said: "He's a player with a wonderful attitude, can play in several positions, has tremendous energy and has got outstanding ability.""

I voted Wes, but it was always gonna be a tough call between Chris and Wes.

Fully deserved. He's been brilliant all season, especially in the dark winter months when he was getting very little help around him. The number of times he covered for team-mates, won a ball he shouldn't have got anywhere near or won an important tackle or header is incredible. Here's hoping for more of the same next season!

Thoroughly deserved, feel like he has been our best central midfielder, left winger, right winger, left back and every other role he has taken on this season! We were wondering if champagne was presented with the trophy as today was definately not his best performance of the season!

Although he doesn't deserve it.
Look at performances this season coupled with man of the match and player of the month awards and Wes pisses on all the competition. I was fairly annoyed to see this in programme, seems an injustice. Cohen definately 2nd due to a fantastic work ethic but Wes was a different class this season.

Cohen doesn't directly influence the game is what I meant. That doesn't mean however he isn't playing well. Having him run 80 yards to get into the box and drag a player away from Earnie who then subsequently sticks it in the net is typical of Cohen.

Wes has improved no end since last season, but I still reckon Cohen is the best player in our squad.
