Chris Cohen contract

Does anyone know when Cohen's contract is up? I presume its the end of next season.

Personally for me, the first thing Billy should do is to get this lad to sign a new contract.

I'm sure he signed a 4 yr contract when he signed !

Ah fantastic news. Thats cheered me up even more. I actually felt like clapping my hands together this morning when i woke up and this has capped off a beautiful morning to hear that. Just hope we dont turn into a selling club again a la Jenas.

Of course there may be some key players going, if we get offers from premiership clubs.
I doubt that will be a real problem this preseason, as Earnshaw is probably the only player in our squad who is good enough/ready for the Premiership...

Good to hear that he's got another 2 years left on his contract. Player of the season for me, he's been outstanding throughout, I've never seen a Forest player work so hard and cover so much grass. Even in the dark days of early winter, he was still a shining light in the side, and this has continued under BD. Wherever he's had to play he's put in a good performance and 100% effort. It'll be a travesty if he doesn't get the award at the end of the season. Absolute hero.

I am sure BD will sign him up for longer as he has done with Tyson and Wes. I am also sure Davies will go.

I really hope you mean Arron! No offence Arron..

I can see Huddersfield coming in for AD. I heard that they were interested in January and he's a useful player at that level.

I imagine Redmond might be retained , Bencherif seemed to have done quite well in his new role as the defensive midfielder in the reserves so pemberton might have a word with Davies , thought Breckin is looking for a regular run-out so it's kind of unlikely he'll stay on to be on the bench , the rest i imagine will probably be released. Too bad for Mark Byrne , he could have well wrote himself a meal ticket if he had scored that goal against derby in the FA cup and bring the tie into extra time but alas , it's not to be.

I think they'll keep Byrne on to be honest, sounds like an excellent prospect.

I think it's fair to say though that we've seen the last of young Emile Sinclair

Hamza Bencherif - Probably offered a one year deal after impressing in the reserves.
Ian Breckin - Don't know about Breckin. I think he could be offered a one year player/coach type thing.
Mark Byrne - One more year I think.
Mickael Darnet
Paddy Gamble
Shane Redmond - I think he'll be retained and sent out on loan again as he seems to be rated.
Tom Sharp
Emile Sinclair

2010:
Julian Bennett
Arron Davies
Garath McCleary
Brendan Moloney
Adam Newbold - I don't think he'll keep Newbold on to be honest and Moloney will go out on loan.
Paul Smith

2011:
Luke Chambers
Chris Cohen
Joe Heath - out on loan
Robert Earnshaw
Lewis McGugan
Guy Moussi
James Perch
James Reid - out on loan
Matt Thornhill
Nathan Tyson
Kelvin Wilson - unsure really. Could leave if we get a couple of defenders in.

2012:
Joe Garner
Billy Davies
Wes Morgan

It's good that our core players are on longer term deals - so at least if we do lose any we'll get some cash for them. Would imagine along with new signings getting Cohen to extend his contract will be a big priority for Billy, he's a bright future ahead of him - hopefully with us - but if not then we need to maximise his value by getting on on a long term deal.

I certainly think it must be more flexible.

Can't imagine Earnie is on anything like what the wage cap was reported to be.

Of those out of contract this summer I can only see us keeping Byrne and one of the keepers.

Think Davies and Newbold will be shipped out - neither have had much of a look in under Billy, even when our squad was stretched to breaking point. Not sure about Bennett or Smith - Jules has a lot to prove and if Billy is gonna bring in a new keeper as predicted then maybe Smith should be sold while we can get some decent money for him? He certainly won't sign again in 12 months if he's been stuck on the bench.

We need to get a new contract in front of Moloney and McCleary urgently as they will be more important players for us next season than this.

Here's a question:

Has Earnshaw been worth the money we paid?

£2.65m and 16 goals (11 in the league)

These are the games he scored in:

Watford (h) 3-2 victory. Without Earnie 2-2 (minus 2 points)
Burnley (h) 1-2 defeat. (same points)
Coventry (a) 2-2 draw. (-1 point)
Norwich (a) 3-2 win. (-2 points)
Charlton (a) 2-0 win. (same)
Plymouth (h) 2-0 win. (same)
Derby (h) 1-3 defeat. (same)
Preston (h) x2 2-1 win. (-3)
Barnsley (a) 1-1 draw. (-1)
Bristol City (h) 3-2 win. (-1)

So, without Earnie, we'd have been 10 points down on what we have.

I think he's been worth every penny :)

For the record, I think he has been worth every penny, too.

I also think that he'll get 15-20 league goals at least next season if he can stay fit.

Definitely. Keep him fit and playing alongside a target man (Blackstock) then he will score a serious amount of goals.

Chris Cohen will hopefully be with us for another year at least

I don't think we'll sell any of our 'key' players this season.

I'm sure they're being told by Davies and the board that quality additions will be made and the team improved to push their way up the league in a kind of 'give it a year and see where we are then' scenario.
