You've been a diamond...I think most of us have enjoyed every minute of it.

We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when, but I know we'll meet again some sunny day.

I'm going for:
At the City Ground, In August. :)

Unless Davies gets another, better job offer he will be here next season. Don't see who would offer him a job at the moment which would further his career.

Doughty is not going to sack him, he allowed Calderwood to stay in his post despite being useless for 2 and a half years so his job is safe.

I think he got it wrong over the two legs but overall he has been amazing for the club.

I have a niggling feeling he won't be around next season. Hope it's just that and he is, though.

That radio interview he did wasn't too positive but I'm trying to stay optimistic.

I'm the same.

Bit worrying that he pretty much refused to commit his future to us in the post-match interview too.

In fairness he has been mardy and has this tendency to f*** off..

Good manager he is, but he will go.

I don't understand this; Billy has been saying all season that he's building for a promotion tilt next season, why would he walk after coming so close this season?

Am I missing something?

havnt heard the interview yet.

my guess.........

-we have a very naive young squad.
-he wasnt backed properly in january.
-crap referee
-the crowd was rubbish
-nick cleggs fault

He's worked wonders for us and if he leaves then so be it. As long as the manager isn't spanish or Megson or Sven I don't really mind. Pearce, Hart anyone?

You guys have had grace and class after the game and in your comments on here, but if I was a Forest fan, that is not the interview that I would have wanted to hear so soon after the game.

Indeed. I was glad he didn't talk in third person for once.

This is what I've heard:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/nottm_forest/8676473.stm

...and I see nothing sinister in it at all. I've got a contract. We've got some thinking to do, I sit down and evaluate at the end of every season. We know all this already and it's al true.

Davies doesn't really gives direct answers either way to the 'will you still be here' question, except at Derby where he expressed doubts that were well founded. He was realistic about the display on the night and stated clearly that he still can't criticise his team for their season on the whole. He's certainly not going to say anything to get Doughty and Arthur complacent about the investment he requires (rightly so, following Shoreygate) any more than Clough used to. A manager's job in this modern game is to keep a chairman on his toes and Doughty wants him here I'm sure just as much as any Forest fan. I've read Doughty reckons no more than three or so main signings over the summer, and that sits about right with me, two in defence and another great midfielder. Plus any frees and randoms from left-field like Raddy, not to mention youngsters.

Look at Wilson, Wes ad co under him - next season McGugan Garner, McGoldrick and so on stand a good chance of making a Kelvin-sized improvement.

Moistly though I hear a manager who is just as gutted as me about things tonight, I doubt I'd have been so balanced in his shoes.

Exactly what are people getting stressed about?

I think you're wrong on this front Al, Davies will not walk away from a 2 year contract which is worth a hell of a lot of money to him.

Celtic will not offer him the job, Rangers couldn't afford to employ him. If Smith goes then McCoist would take over (he already takes charge of cup games for them). West Ham are hardly likely to offer him the job either.

Doughty has shown he is very reluctant to sack managers and has only done so when there position have been untenable and we have been on the road to relegation, I really don't see why he would sack Davies.

Well it's about balancing the fact that he's a very good manager with his whinging and moaning, coupled with the fact that we are in a miles better position than we were a year ago and a better attraction for decent out of work managers.

So, come what may.
