FOREST manager Billy Davies will take part in a question and answer session to raise funds for a Bingham family whose two-year-old son is battling cancer.

Toby Clough was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma in his eye muscles when he was 21 months old.

After six months of intensive chemotherapy Toby is set to be treated with a type of radiotherapy in Switzerland.

Parents Claire and Kyle are hoping the treatment, known as proton chemotherapy, will be paid for by the NHS and are trying to raise £20,000 to pay for their costs.

They will have to pay for accommodation for two months while Toby has treatment, their flights and childcare for their four-year-old son Sam.

Claire, of Nottingham Road, took Toby to the doctors when a red mark appeared under his eye. After three weeks of antibiotics, it had got worse.

"The next thing we knew, we were whisked into a room and told it could be cancer. My whole world caved in. I'm trying to keep positive, we're desperately busy trying to organise what we can.''

The 35-year-old mother has given up her job at Boots headquarters to look after Toby.

A question and answer session with Mr Davies and others from the club is being held to raise cash for the Clough family on July 30. Compered by Fraser Nicholson, who works for the club, guests will be entertained by comedian Jed Stone and will also be able to question assistant manager David Kelly, first team coach Julian Darby and goalkeeping coach Pete Williams.

On Tuesday, there will be a collection at the pre-season friendly between Arnold Town and Derby County at the opening of Arnold's clubhouse.

Claire, who admits she is a Derby County fan, said: "We've had support from both teams despite all the rivalry. It's lovely when people can support you in your time of need and that's what's been so touching, having that support from local people."

Claire and Kyle went to the opening of Bingham Town FC All Stars' new clubhouse when the team played against ex-Forest players last month.

The couple met Danny Boyes, a partner of Nottingham event company On The Ball Promotions, who has organised the Nottingham Forest event. He said: "My mother-in-law has cancer as well. It's a great cause very close to my heart.''

The ticket price will be donated to the Clough family, of no relation to Nigel Clough, and a silent auction will be held. The event is at 7pm in the Robin Hood Suite. For details call Mr Boyes on 07904 513 953.

The Arnold Town and Derby County match kicks off at 7.45pm

I know I'll probably get a bit of stick for this as it seems quite cold hearted but... If the NHS are covering the actual treatment costs why is it costing them £20k for two months in Switzerland?

It's a ridiculously high figure, there must be something else to it though. Its unlikely they are taking the piss.

Yeah, it does seem unlikely that their sons cancer is a profit-turning scam. Hope the events go well!

I'm not saying they're trying to scam anyone, I just don't understand why they need such a vast sum. If I were to be in the same situation I'd be doing it as cheap as possible to get to the target as quickly as possible to get out there and get the treatment.

Like you said earlier, you're a cold hearted animal.

Good lad, Billy.

I'm playing in a 24 hour five aside match (only for 3 hours though) to raise money for this next month.

You're not going to demand a tranfer for more regular football are you?
