Boro have some great players in their squad, if they keep Tuncay and Alves they will be dangerous, but they just lack a spark in midfield that allows them to build decent attacks.

Southgate was the worst person to take that job.

as a squad of footballers and ignoring the crisises around them it has to be newcastle, depending on who else leaves of course

You are definitely getting carried away here. There are several better squads. Look, I'm delighted with what's happening at the moment, but let's not forget that most of us would be happy with mid table obscurity.

From that list i still think Newcastle & West Brom are stronger than us. Maybe Sheff Utd as well. We're probably on a par with Reading

The best squad has to be Newcastles without a doubt. But with the unsettlement I don't think they will do to well.

Newcastle, Boro and West Brom definately have better squads than us

In terms of collective skill and experience, Newcastle.

In terms of teams knowing and gelling with each other quite well, us or West Brom.

Reality check: whilst we have made some very good signings, our defence was poor for most of last season. We have signed a better keeper and a quality (if inexpereinced) Right back. We have lost our most experienced defender and, our only proper left back is injured and has yet to prove that he can make the step up to championship level. Whilst I can't see us struggling again this season, and whilst I hope that we sign a defender or two, there is no way that our squad is currently as good as half a dozen or so teams in this division. That's not to say that BD cant work wonders with what he has, but before a ball is kicked that is the situation.

I agree with Ravi.

We're good, but we ain't no Championship winning side.

I will be delighted with a safe midtable finish this season, before building further that summer and making a run for promotion then.

Wbrom will be the team to beat.. Boro will have a bad start and pick it up and I think Newcastle could do a Leeds. They are a complete mess and Ashley cant get a buyer so nothing is changing. i feel bad for them Geordie boys.

Good early comments. Before Mowbray left I would have said West Brom without a doubt but I believe now they are unsettled the best players want to go back to the prem, the manager has not enough experience and that will be there downfall.
I am not even so sure that the 3 teams that came down any of them will get back up this season. For some reason I think Ipswich will be right up there along with Forest ( pass me the straight jacket) and maybe Middlesborough after sacking Southgate in September for winning the Play off.

I am probaly going to regret I have written all this!!!!

Have to agree West Brom must have the best 'Championship' squad. They have been there and done it. They have got rid of Robinson who is a big loss. The Geordies will have to sell a lot of their top earners and Boro will be strong. On paper we will be up there on squads 'if' we sign a defernder or two.

I think Boro have the best squad capable of getting out of this league. Especially if they can keep Wheater and Adam Johnson etc. Closely followed by West Brom.

I just don't think the Newcastle squad will be up for the fight.

People are getting carried away. It takes a good side to win this league. You have to be almost premiership quality.

Think back to the squad we had when we finished 6th. David Johnson, Marlon Harewood, Darren Huckerby, Andy Reid, Jermaine Jenas, Michael Dawson, Gareth Williams, Des Walker, Louis-Jean and Brennan. Maybe Scimeca, Andy Johnson and Mcphail? Can't really remember who exactly.

But that was a decent squad. A lot went on to better things but we only managed 6th place. It is a tough league and a lot of what we are doing is to bring us up to a good championship standard because we were short last year.

I'm not ruling us out of playoffs but we aren't the best.

I think you are forgetting the legend that was David Tarka

Absolutely, it's shaping up but there's still a couple of positions that need addressing.

You have a real penchant for left backs who didn't give a shit about Forest whilst here, don't you? lol

I have voted for us, not because I really believe that we have the best squad in the division, but because I am excited about everything Forest at the moment, like a little school boy!!! Yey!!! ;D ;D ;D
