CELTIC boss Neil Lennon has failed with an initial £1million offer for Nottingham Forest defender Kelvin Wilson.


Lennon is keen to give Wilson, 24, the opportunity to play in the Champions League this season and made his move last week.


But Forest have told the Glasgow giants to cough up £2m for the highly rated centre-half who has rejected a new contract at the City Ground.



Forest boss Billy Davies, meanwhile, has seen a £350,000 offer for Sheffield Wednesday winger Jermaine Johnson snubbed.

Davies wants Jamaican international Johnson, 30, to join his promotion charge but cash-strapped Wednesday want more money.

That's not Forest tactics.

If they were following Forest's tactics from the Aquisition Panel handbook on 'How to buy a player' Chapter 2, paragraph 3 would have led them to putting in an initial bid of £350k.

I'll accept that, at least they have the common decency to put in a offer that doesn't insult the player or the selling club.

Not quite the same scenario mate:

Wilson might well be worth substantially more to you - me and every other Forest fan but it's what he is worth to the club that counts!!

I'm realistic enough to believe all these figures that's being banded about are ONLY paper talk - Let's wait and see.

I know! We can only hope talks are on going on a new deal, realy hope forest don't let another potentially great player slip through the net.

I know kelv has had a couple of blunders in our 1st championship season but he is a great athlete who will no doubt end up in the prem. Celtic is a set side ways at the very best for him. Neil Lennon can do one! Tosser!

we already need a centre back as cover if he goes the money brought in would have to pay for 2 centre backs,it doesn't make financial sense to sell him

I think if we sell Kelvin we can wave goodbye to any chances of replicating last seasons achievements :(

I would much rather him leave for nothing next summer than sell him now. It takes time for a CB pairing to gel and so getting rid of him and finding a like for like replacement (although not likely) would still leave us weaker than having him here for the season. Atleast we would have a year to prepare to sign a new one.

We've had more than a year to sign a fir-king LFB but we ain't got one yet.

in all honesty i have just accepted that isnt going to happen next season anyway and will just enjoy the big wins against our close rivals and hope derby and Leicester dont go up somehow.

we need at least 3-4 players to go one step further next season not looseing them

Including the £1 Million quoted in the paper as being bid by Celtic?

You seem happy to accept that as being legit.

lennon can piss off ! really bad move that would be. to off load we would have to be able to get a player of at least kelvins quality which i think is very slim.

If this is true then Wilson is in the last year of his contract and seems to be stalling on signing a new one, I don't know how true this is, but if it is true then 2.5M will be a good deal considering. It will leave Forest a bit weaker at the back that is good but they could use that money to bring in some talent as a replacement.. Mills anyone.

I copied and pasted the article because it was news - Nowhere in my post did I add any comments to it so please don't ASSUME whether or not that I was happy with it.

If you want the truth - I wouldn't be happy with £1m for KW so please don't start thinking that just because someone copies & pastes an article that they believe it or agrees with it, unless they back it up or rubbish it.

I too took this to imply you a) believed the amount to be correct and b) thought that £1m was ok, because it was a decent amount and not insulting to player or selling club.

I was talking about - no added comments in my original post.

The comment you are refering to was in answer to "Erik" with his jibe at the TAP - nothing to do with the initial post.
