Celtic to bid £2.5m for Kelvin Wilson

I don't think it will happen, especially not for £2.5m. It may enable Wilson to get himself a nice wage bump though.

But it would be yet another new face, and Kelvin was our most improved player from last season, and was just as good, if not better than Wes. With our current defensive dearth, do we really want to add CB to the list of 'Positions that need filling'?

This will prove what ambition Forest have players like Wilson must be kept there is not much better anywhere in the championship. I just hope Mawene is not being lined up as a replacement!

Firstly, we won't, secondly, on the evidence of last season and by second division standards, he most certainly is. Ball-playing central defenders are a rare breed. Wilson was both an excellent defender and a reliable link between the defence and midfield last season. No other central defender at the club is capable of being that, and there are few obvious replacements around. Other than somebody like Ashley Williams at Swansea or Craig Dawson at Rochdale I can think of very few good central defenders with time on their side who play in footballing teams.

I have heard worrying mumours that Wilson will be allowed to go, he wants to go apparently and the deal will soon be done. Like Perch he has been made an offer too good to refuse........the money being offered is also too good for the club to refuse.

On the flip side. I have heard no serious rumours yet about incoming players, strange situation ??

In Billy's interview on the back of the post, he says "there will be comings and going in the next few weeks" so it's possible.

And if Wilson, Ashley Williams and Craig Dawson are the only 'footballing' centre halfs around, it's no wonder we are s**t at international level!

He lacks ambition if he goes

Not really. For the last few years we've been saying that about every player that leaves us, yet we are still on our very best day a second division team.

I think people need to wake up and realise, that celtic are an enormous freaking club. If wilson goes there and is a success, he has more chance of a move to the premier league, he'll have earnt a ton of money, more than likely won some silverware, played in front of massive crowds and tasted european football.
Realistically- can forest offer him any of those things?

If he stays at forest, its on the HOPE that in a years time he'll finally have made it to the premier league with forest, where he has to look forward to a certain relegation battle and the very real chance of division 2 football again.

Yes we are on the up, but we cannot offer anything like what celtic can sadly.

I hope he doesnt go, as last season he looked excellent after the previous 2 years of being dreadful and acting like a child. Last season, he looked like a high quality player and at times his composure and style reminded me of des walker (one of the all time greats of this club).

I really hope he doesnt go, but if celtic do come in for him- he will probably go.

I'm more concerned about the prospect of starting the season with luke chambers or joel lynch as first choice centre backs.

Celtic move for Forest's Kelvin Wilson

Celtic move for Forest's Kelvin Wilson after Sol Campbell deal cools

• Nottingham Forest defender now No1 target
• Sunderland interested in Campbell

Kelvin Wilson Kelvin Wilson could be on his way to Glasgow if Celtic's £2.5m offer satisfies Nottingham Forest.
Celtic will step up their bid for the Nottingham Forest defender Kelvin Wilson. It seems Sol Campbell will reject a move to Parkhead.

Campbell has held talks in Glasgow with the Celtic manager, Neil Lennon, but has refused to commit to a deal. Sunderland are also interested in the 35-year-old centre-half.

Lennon is poised to confirm his interest in Wilson with a formal bid of around £2.5m for the 24-year-old.

The Mexican midfielder Efraín Juárez, 22, will sign a three-year deal, with the option for a fourth, with Celtic later this week.

Lee Grant has been recommended to Celtic, but no move has yet been made for the Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper, who could be available for £1m. Celtic's former first-choice goalkeeper, Artur Boruc, passed a medical at Fiorentina today.

Burnley's Chris Eagles was tonight in Glasgow as he closes in on a £1m move to Rangers.

seems abit 2 cheap at £2.5 mill...lol....lol

im actualy begining to have a small glint of regret seeping in over renewing my season ticket. we have needed a left back for nearly 2 seasons now and havent found one do we realy need to add another player to that list. it realy is begining to echo the 2003 season and the 1998 one before that.

We should be getting nearer £5mill than £2.5mill for him... there's not too many talented 24 year old centre backs, with pace, about.

If Celtic bid £2.5m then I think the board will deem this too good an offer to refuse and he will be gone espeicially as it would represent a profit of £2,135,000 over three seasons.

I would be very concerned if he goes, we are already short at the back and were pretty lucky with injuries to defenders last season. We need to strengthen in this area.

What we want and what Kelvin wants are entirely different things

Footy being ultimately about money so we should expect him to move to Celtic
It's a no brainer really isn't it. Unlike Perch I can see Kelvin going well at Celtic with a view to moving to a prem league club in a few years, who know could be Forest!

Good luck to him. We are a 2nd Division club, with a 2nd division cash flow we have to face those facts. You can kick off about him being "allowed" to leave, but it's inevitable

It's upto our ever so professional manager to provide a new defender isn't it

I'm worried about the Club's ambition should he be sold. Until we have players in, we really shouldn't be selling off our prize assets, or this will be 2003 all over again.

We need to strengthen in all areas. I'm just worried that any new players that come in are going to miss out on a good pre season with us. Especially darren pratley who seems to be missing out on pre season games because he is 'ill'!
