With the Tyson flag waving incident fresh in our minds, do any of the older (30+) fans remeber when we played Celtic at home in 1983 UEFA Cup tie recall the following or am I imaging it: The Thousands of Celtic fans that were there, several fans spilled on to the pitch and I am sure I remember Cloughie planting some kind of flag on to the pitch. Am I cracking up or does anybody else remeber this incident?

I remember the game quite vividly, recall the dozens of Celtic fans who spilled onto the pitch when the perimeter gate at the front of the away terrace was opened, coinciding with a 'surge' from the Celtic fans, and the game being stopped for a while (thought I'd written an article about it, but it must've been on the older incarnation of the LTLF content site - may have to resubmit it..)...but I don't recall Cloughie & a flag - just the tannoy man htreatening everyone that the game'd be abandoned if they didn't clear the pitch.

If there's any videos of anything to do with that game - before, during or after, I'd love to see them, to rekindle some of the great memories of the most magnificent away support I've ever had the privilege of sharing a ground - and a city - with.

Thanks Nottmdude, that would be great and it would help prove to me that I am not cracking up! Incidentally, I went to the away game at Celtic with a few mates for a laugh and never expected us to win. I did not expect Rangers fans to join up with Forest fans either and to create the scariest atmosphere I have ever experienced at a game! Great fun though!

Yeah it was great, I just wish I'd known the words to all the IRA songs so I could have joined in with them.

This UEFA Cup campaign is always overlooked, it should have givn Cloughie another European Final. Does anyone have any footage of the FRankfurt, Sturm Graz, PSV, Celtic, or Anderlecht games ? It was before the days when channel Five would show any UEFA game !

Would love to see the goals agan, especially Hodgies to headers in the 1st Leg against Anderlecht (the cheating fu*kers)

COYR !!

Totally. Most clubs consider themselves unlucky for one reason or another I suppose but come on, we were well and truly shafted by the events of the 80s. On the back of being the best side on planet earth it would have been nice to continue this run year on year but if it wasn't enough that a crooked ref denied us a 3rd piece of European silverware, Liverpool had to go and do what they do best, run riot, and have us all kicked out of Europe. Am I right in thinking there would have been a few more Uefa cup qualifications had it not been for this?

The success could have entrenched us in the top flight like an Everton or Villa and we might never have ended up where we are.

This lad is selling DVDs of the game, maybe he could upload some of the footage to Youtube so we could see it although then he would be doing himself out of sales

Loudest Ive ever heard the City Ground that night although personally I found a fair chunk of the Celtic support vile IRA loving drunken tramps. Can remember getting caught up in the Trouble in the Market Square pre-match, I believe the local news were broadcasting live from there at the time and everybody was scrapping around them. Another memory was how cold it was. b****y freezing

In fairness, it was miracle something similar didn't happen at Anderlecht away, terrible organisation, shocking Policing, crammed in like sardines and Forest own hooligans basically clearng their end in the 2nd half. If that had been screened live those scenes would have done us no favours. Oh and I forgot the blatant cheating by those Belgium Bastards and Swiss referee
