cardiff and the hrmc

they have to come up with the cash they owe in full by the 5th of may, three days before the playoffs or i think they get wound up.....they could go into administration but they would then lose points and possibly slip out the play offs unless they open up a ten point gap between them and 7th..........interesting.

If they did go into administration, but they'd opened up enough of a gap to still make the play-offs, would they be allowed into the Premiership if they then won the play-offs? Obviously a precedent has been set now by Portsmouth, but they were already in the Prem when they went into administration, so I wonder what the rules are when it comes to promotion.

Course they would, then they'd be able to pay off their debts...

Heard last night that they are nowhere near raising the money, the only reason they've not been called into court is become they keep bulshitting about some malaysian investment...

Hardly a 'trusted' source though :spankarse:

There is a Malaysian guy interested in investing in Cardiff - whether he'll actually give them cash is a different matter entirely!

sorry guys, i think we're past the deadline where points deductions apply this season, so they wouldn't drop out of the play-offs.

if they got promoted they would start premiership on -9 points and almost certainly would beat derbyscum's record.

They won't have the money by the May deadline but will plead that by making the play offs they are just a couple of games from making the Prem and paying off their debts. They've been living beyond their means for years and stringing this court business out for ages hoping to get promoted before anyone had the balls to call in the debts. If they win the play offs it will be a f*ckin travesty. If they were playing Fester in the final I'd still want the bin dippers to win.

the last adjournment was the very last they where getting it was made clear they payed the debts by that date or they where wound up. I expect them to go into admin as soon as there play off place is secure.

It would be a travesty if they were to still allowed to have a shot at the big time having taken the piss with their finances for so long.

There's a deadline? As I understood it that only became a rule where points deductions were an irrelevance in the case of them already being relegated. I'd imagine they'd still be deducted points this season as they'd either drop out of the play offs or face a different team.

Yep. There is a 'deadline', however all that means is the points can come off at the Football League's discretion, once all the regular season games have been completed.

If a points deduction would make no difference, ie already relegated (like Southampton last year) or in mid table then they'd start on -10 the season after.

If it would make a difference, then 10 points would be taken off their final points total. So if Cardiff go into admin and finish 9 points in front of 7th, then they'd lose their points this year and miss out on the play off's.

They'll be motoring to try to get a gap then. Hopefully Blackpoo can keep up their form to keep the gap to less than 10.

Will the deadline not just get extended again? Pretty disgusting really that Cardiff can challenge for a playoff spot with a team that was essentially bought with money that they couldnt afford

I seem to recall the suggestion in the media reports at the time that it was very much last chance saloon for Cardiff. So unlikely they'll get another extension.

The deadline is the last Thurs in March.

If a club goes into administration after this date the penalty is applied at the end of the season or if they are already relegated in the following season.

Cardiff will not get penalised as the Season officially ends on May 2.

My guess is, if they don't get the funding they need from the Malaysians, they will try to appoint an administrator on May 4, thus canceling the winding-up hearing and giving themselves 8 weeks to solve the problems. This will allow them to play in the play-offs.

Carraghers

Too right, that really is f***ing Carragher. :(

I'd definitely cheer Leicester on against them if it came to it.

Should we meet them at Wembley, do you think we'd kind of have a "home" advantage seeing as its in England?

Yes. He was also there last weekend for the game against Swansea.

So a team can spend beyond it's means to attain success, then pay for it with the money that success comes with?

Their current league position is based on spending money they didn't earn. Perhaps we should sign Messi. That would get us in the Premiership, then we can write off the debts and go into administration.

Scandalous.

Kick the ****s out of the English league system.

I'd prefer Rangers and Celtic to be in the English league. At least their finances would ensure, eventually, two more teams capable of winning the Premierleague.

Is that the same Rangers who are currently in a financial mess with a debt of £30m that board cannot pay the interest on?
