Can WE keep it up?

The atmosphere yesterday was the best I have heard it for a long time and I believe really inspired the side onto victory. It is so much more enjoyable being in an atmosphere like that rather than the sitting in silence with the odd hundred people chanting "stand up if you hate derby" every now and again, which is what we get 9 times out of 10.

The lads are starting to show on the pitch that they are a good side and now I think it's up to us to stand up and be counted. I understand we won't get an atmosphere like Saturday every home game but we can surely do much better than what we normally produce which is simply pathetic.

Lets try and keep it going on Tuesday night against a rather less glamorous opposition in Barnsley. I fear however it will return back to "as you were".

The atmosphere on Tuesday will be shit.

You're right though, Elmo, the place was buzzing more so than usual at the weekend - can't even say it was in response to the Geordies making noise - because whilst they were there in numbers, they didn't really do much by way of chanting.

Thing is with Forest at home (and most home fans).... Noisy away supporters prompts the home fans into singing.

So if Barnsley bring thousands of fans who are up for some banter, then I know we will respond.

But I agree, great atmosphere yesterday, and I think it might gee up our home fans for a few matches. Maybe.

Two hours extra drinking probably had a lot to do with it.......

It did cross my mind :D

There were a lot of blurry eyed looking people in the ground yesterday.

Now you know what yo have to do Forest........

I even heard more singing than usual in the lower tier of the Brian Clough stand, where I usually sit.

It seemed to me the crowd were just responding to events on the pitch; as Forest kept a tempo in the first half and pressed Newcastle back, the crowd came alive as well.

I'd like to think the atmosphere is slowly turning at the CG. Its been severely damaged by the abject dross thats been served up over recent seasons and our time in league one definately hurt the fans spirit.
But I think now the team are responding to the forest fans desire to see football played as it should be it is lifting the crowd, which in turn lifts the team.
I also think Billy Davies has been pretty clever in getting the fans on side by conveying a sense of realism that we wont always dominate matches but we can have a big effect on games, and urging us to be more vocal.
Its not quite there against the lesser teams yet but its getting better.

I wish we could encourage more of the stay-aways to come for the less glamourous opponents. I love the atmosphere at night games under the lights. It would be nice to think that the lads deserve at least 25,000 after the efforts of Saturday, but............
BTW - IMHO the atmosphere in the Upper Trent End on Saturday was magnificent, but to single us out would be unfair on the efforts made in other parts of the ground. The Newcastle fans MUST have been impressed.

It'll be back to normal again because:

1. We're against Barnsley

2. All of the glory hunting supporters who attend 1-2 matches per season have not got this fixture marked down

Drives me insane.

Does that mean the 'glory hunting' supporters are responsible for generating our atmosphere?

It's been much better at times this season. The crowd towards the end of the Newcastle game yesterday and also the D*rby game were as loud as I can remember and really spurred us on to see out both games respectively.Nice to see the whole ground(away fans excluded of course)unite in urging the team on rather than getting on the backs of players for a chance. It certainly makes the matchday more enjoyable personally and adopt this attitude against everyone not just our so called 'cup finals' then the City Ground will be a fortress.

They don't seem very impressed!

:D A healthy mixture of sour grapes and arrogance, with a smattering of truth!

What kind of ... would compare Des Lyttle and Wes Morgan? lol

Bruno kept Giggs and Zola quiet the season we finished third in the top flight, when both players were at their peak. Worst player in the top flight my arse.

As for the freak occurence of winning the European Cup, it can't have been that strange since we repeated the exercise a year later.

****wit.

I was thinking more of feeding us beer within the ground. Free pint with your match ticket or all inclusive for season ticket holders? :D

Like a reverse Derby, huh?

Free ticket when you buy a pack of crisps etc...

He even said that Gunter is our right back but whoever is on the left should go at Morgan. Doesn't have a clue!

The Newcastle fans on that forum are amongst the most arrogant bunch of supporters I have ever had the displeasure of stumbling upon.

He's getting us thinking like plucky underdogs, which in a way we are being recent League 1 escapees, and we all know the English love underdogs.

Red Underdogs, then.
