Can we consolidate our position?

This is where we have to be at our best at the begining of the season so we can start in a strong position if we fail to getting any decent results in our first ten games then we will be poorly positioned for the final 3rd of the season. I think Forest have the depth to pick up from last seasons form bar towards the end of the term we should really at least sign 2 or 3 players that can hold the ball and get a decent cross in. I just hope Davies doesnt turn into another Calderwood thus another reason why we need to start strong before the fans start slating the manager, please dont call for Billy's head if we are not in the top 6 by Christmas. Time is needed and this might or might not be good as last season but only time will tell.

How do you define consolidate?

Today, my definition is to finish about in the same position as last season. We finished 3rd so I think we'll have consolidated if we finish in the play-offs or higher.

And i do think we'll finish in the play-offs again so please put me down as a 'yes'.

Consolidate = 3rd-6th place finish, as there's no tangible benefit to 3rd/4th for me.

'Kick on' = 1st/2nd or 3rd but with a later chance of nicking an automatic spot.

Irrespective of how unexpected lasts season's league placing was, anything less than play-offs will be disappointing.

Start with the team that ended last season and we will stuggle, mid table at best, however if we bring in what is being reported then i can predict a comfortable top 6 maybe top 2 position but we have to make those signings.

One thing that worries me is that it is going to be impossible to repeat the home form of last season (that kind of run as we know happens once in 30 years)

So we need to find a way to start winning lots more away matches just to do as well as last year

This season is gonna be a lot, lot harder than last season. I reckon there will be about ten teams in the end all fighting it out for three promotion spots and if you couple in the fact that all teams are onto us unlike early last season, I honestly believe we need to invest soundly to make any sort of push possible.

I think it hinges on whether the marketing department can stop sending emails twice. This pressing issue is set to derail our club.

I expect a belter of a season. No big time Charlie Newcastle or West Brom to steal all the headlines and TV coverage, but lots of big names in there all of whom think they should be back in the Prem. We're one of them.

Its going to be great to be looking at the fixture list and seeing the big games against these sorts of teams queuing up, lots of drama. Probably more exciting than looking at a list of Prem teams to get tonked by.

I agree with the point on this season being harder. Those that said they would rather not go up last year are mad.

Agree. The idea of a football club is to win matches anyone who says that they would rather consolidate in the second tier and then make the transition when we are better equipped fail to understand the nature of elite sport.

Depends on how good the new signings are and how quickly they settle in.

If you're not going forwards, then you're going backwards, after all.

With this team at the moment I can see us doing a Preston/Sheffield United/Reading and finishing the season in a below-par position. But with a good left-back, a good left winger and another good striker anything is possible!

I Believe our position will basically ride on our signings....
Play-offs the minimum with 1 or 2 moderate signings......

We need to understand we had a budget in January as well as a summer budget, we never spent a penny in January so we have to have a decent ammount to play with right now.

One awaits in patience, but im not getting carried away with all this Pratley,Shorey and Whittingham balls, just one or two of those would make us defo favourites for auto.

I think this Dorman sounds like a very good target ,the kind we need without spending stupid ammount.

Dorrans at West Brom cost 100k from livingston....not bad hey.
