OK, so now we've seen them both in action yesterday, heard the interview. Who would you rather see in goal for Forest?

Frankly, it's reached the point where I hope we sign him. At least it will shut the 'Smith out' brigade up.

Then we can all sit back and in 12 months time watch the same people slagging Lee Camp off for all his weak areas.

I personally have not axe to grind either way, other than a view that Smith has been made a scapegoat by a lot of people, but regarding Camp and those singing his praises - If he's so good why isn't he either in the Premiership or at least already a first team regular at this level?

Camp - he's a better allround keeper, the chanting towards camp from the capital one corner yesterday couldn't have done much good for smithys confidence.

The chanting from the Capital One Corner during the game was f***ing stupid. Feel free to show your appreciation for the good things he did for us during his short spell here before the game, I gave him a clap, but during the game? What team are you supposed to be supporting?

Also Smith predictably gets my vote, Camp was good for us yes but I didn't see anything to suggest that he's superior to Smith. After the contrasting performances of both goalkeepers yesterday I'm starting to feel somewhat vindicated too.

QPR would of got 3 points yesterday if Smith would have been in goal for them.

Smith, every day of the week. Both his positioning and his concentration are superior to Camps, and that's before we mention his much acclaimed shot stopping ability. This club owes him a hell of a lot, and the way he is being treated now by our fans is disgraceful.

SMITH IN!!! :dani x:

I agree with the setiment that Smith is being treated very poorly by the fans.

Hes very rarely to blame for goals - the biggest moan is about distribution. Hes kept us in games far more often than hes let us down.

I think that Camp is MARGINALLY better - but Id rather us be using our loan allocation elsewhere.

Get Camp in the summer.

I've got nothing against having two good keepers, but the problem is that Smith is easily good enough to command a starting place in another Championship side. If Camp comes then Smith will surely go - and that would be an enormous waste of money.

Thats bollocks.

Considering their second goal was virtually straight at him, the same could be said for us.

You what?! It was right in the top corner, Buffon wouldn't have saved that effort :D

Its a shame because I do like Smithy, but I think Camp is a better keeper. so with that my vote has to be Camp.

I would like us to sign Camp because I do believe we should have two credible goalkeeping options.

Should we do so, Smith is more than capable of keeping him out of the team - which was abundantly obvious when they were on the same pitch yesterday, yet people still can't see it.

Peculiar.

So Smith is my preference.

However, fans openly supporting an opposing player during a game, whilst being unfairly critical of one of ours in the same position, is frankly outrageous - and all such people should have a serious think about what good they bring to the City Ground of an afternoon. Frankly it flabbergasted me.

Personally I don't really care whether somebody thinks Camp is a better goalkeeper than Smith - that's football, people have preferences, but to openly express such things during play is terrible. Yet still Smith had the better game. Could possibly have got to their first goal, but not the second, made two great saves. DID command his area, DID come off his line to claim crosses, DID deal with backpasses (except one which was shanked), and DID roll it out when available. DID find a red shirt with a decent number of his kicks.

Camp flapped at two crosses, one we nearly scored from, one we did score from - he obviously can't be blamed for letting in a penalty. His distribution was mostly long hoofs, I would conservatively estimate that a similar % of them reached QPR shirts as Smith's did Forest shirts.

Those are my observations. I just wish our fans would actually get their heads out of their arses and realise that without very good reason, there is no f***ing excuse to not support somebody wearing the Forest shirt - and a good section of our fans are frankly complete idiots who I am ashamed with which to be associated.

Got to agree with that 100%

Where I sit (BC lower) there was 'polite applause' when Camp's name was read out. But Smith got a bigger cheer, and so he should. He *is* a Forest player, and Camp isn't.

And plus, on the evidence of yesterday if you were scouting both players, you'd pick Smithy, who - yet again - had a decent game. Some fans overlook that his overall game has improved since last season, but we're now playing a higher level of football, with better forward players, and there's nothing that Paul Smith can do about his defence when they part like the Red Sea in front of him.

I can't recall this season Smith making any major mistakes (like chucking one in against Doncaster and Carlise in the last League 1 season).

And again - it must be said - Paul Smith will save us more points that he loses us.

Smith for me.

And I too can't quite understand why so called Forest fans would be cheering on an opposition goal keeper!

Smith for me, too.

Don't get me wrong, I like Lee Camp a lot, and not just because of that penalty save, but Smith is a better keeper in my opinion.

Time and time again, he saves us with his fantastic reflexes and Camp just doesn't quite have that part of his game.

I'd rather have a goalkeeper with better reflexes and better positional sense than one with better distribution.

Smith is definitely the better keeper. He suffers from a few noticable weaknesses in his game, but even these have improved markedly since he first signed for us.

Anyway, the whole debate now bores the tits off me.

Both have weaknesses but Camp is better overall at the moment. He also has more potential IMO - a young keeper who I expect will improve and develop. Contrast this with Smith who recently said that he didn't feel there was anything he needed to work on in training. ::)

Can I also just say that I think it's despicable that the club feature an interview with Lee Camp on the Official Site.

Then again, what did I expect of them...

smith, but we do need someone to keep him on his toes though
