Irrespective of any links we may have had with him this is terrible news and we can only pray that he makes a full recovery and is able to resume his career.

The paper this morning said he could have to have his leg amputated and that the attack seemed like the knifeman never wanted him to play again.

Either way, I hope he gets well soon. Horrendous thing to happen to anyone.

Saw on the local (Anglia) news that details released from Bedfordshire magistrate's say that Davenport lost 50% of the blood in his body - the boy is lucky to be alive let alone think about playing football again. The area it happened is a sh*t hole, but, by any standards, this is a horrible attack designed to end his career. Hope he recover's quickly

Goal.com sources have learned that the attackers deliberately targeted Davenport’s legs in an attempt to end his professional career and that the defender and his family knew the assailants, who in my opinion possessed a grudge against them. Calum's sister Cara, 28, was at the house at the time of the crime, but was not hurt.


If 'a relative' was telling them all of this, why would there be concerns for the sister, when it has now become apparent that it was her boyfriend? Strange that when the 'relative' was giving out this info, they didn't mention that.
