So this saturday is the first pre season game in England,so who is going and predictions?

I'll be there and tbh can't see past a Forest win so 3-1 to the reds

We're also sending a team up to play Ilkeston Town that day, right?

I'm guessing the stronger team will go to Burton, and I might be tempted to go.
Although Ilkeston is a lot easier to get to for me, so I'll have to think about it....

Also, I've just seen the Burton -v- Forest match is £15. We're charging less than that for games against Premiership sides.

Im going down ilko, its more local and has surely got to be cheaper.

Yeah, it's £9 for Il'son -v- Forest. Will be mainly youth / academy / reserve players, surely?

Wouldn't normally moan about the price (even though the Burton game is clearly a rip off)... but it's been an expensive month and payday is next week.

Not necessarily they could go 50/50 spilt to try an get the whole club to bond on the pitch.
its eaither going to be first team at burton or 50/50 however i wouldnt be surprised if one keeper plays one game and the other plays the other just to get 90 mins for both of them.

You would of thought the teams will be mixed surely ? Players need match fitness in pre-season so wouldn't suprise if both teams were just as strong as each other

The stronger team will be at Burton, but attacking wise we can play a combination of strikers, just to give a couple a run out and the chance to play alongside each other. I'd guess that Earnie and Garner will be at Ilson, just because Billy has said they are slightly behind the others in terms of fitness etc

Yes - would say about a 10-15 minute walk. Bit more if you want to sample any burton ale

My routefinder says 1.4 miles so I'd guess about half hour leisurely pace?

Just straight up Derby Rd from the looks of it... any decent pubs along there?

Not too sure of the boozers on derby road. Can vouch for the Burton Bridge pub on the outskirts of the town centre if you are looking for quality bitter and dont mind a diversion.

Will ask one of my mates who works at the Coors/Bass brewery and add any that are on the way to the ground from the train station.

JUST TO MAKE ANYBODY AWARE, BURTON WAS GOOD FOR DRINKING IN THE OUT OF TOWN PUBS BUT NOW YOUR BETTER GOING INTO TOWN FROM THE STATION( A COUPLE OF DECENT ONES ON THE WAY DOWN STATION STREET) THEN EITHER WALK UP TO THE GROUND 30 MIN OR A TAXI FOR ABOUT £3.00.
OTHER OPTION IS TO HEAD UP DERBY RD TO THE ALFRED THEN PAST THE ALBION TO THE BEECH PUB OR A LITTLE FURTHER PAST MCDONALDS TO THE MILLHOUSE WHERE YOU CAN GET FOOD IF YOU WANT. BEWARE MOST ALBION FANS ARE SHEEP WHO DONT ROAM AND WANT TO WATCH A LOCAL TEAM THAT WINS!!!!!!

Yes - got an email from a lady in the admin dept after I questioned the pricing. Best to confirm with the club direct I guess before just to make sure though.

Is that in the home end or away end?

With Forest charging extra are they pocketing a few quid by doing so?

Dunno - I emailed club today to let them know that there is a discrepancy. Was surprised to see that they wanted £13 for a standing ticket - thint the same fixture was £8 last year? I clearly stated I wanted to stand in the away end with my young 'un and Rosie stated the £8 and £4 prices. Something is not right.....

Had completely forgotten about this game. Tempted to drive up to watch the team if its only £8 to get in.

Beer update - best pub for beer on derby road is the Alfred.

This is my kind of update - thank you.

As for prices... I checked yesterday morning on the Burton Albion website which is where I got the £15 seat / £13 standing from.

Then someone on here told me the prices had been revised. So, I checked again and Burton Albion had changed the prices on their site.

Based on that, it's pretty safe to assume the lower prices are the correct prices

That would be illegal.

It's just yet another gaffe.

The Great Northern near the ground does decent beer, well it did when I went there last year.

The Derby Inn was like someone's front room, it was friendly enough.

Unfortunately when I go drinking in Burton my workmates rarely venture further than the Lord Burton (Wiitherspoons - they are tight wads). The Burton Bridge is good but it involves a bit of a detour if you're aiming to get straight to the ground.

If you're really hungry pop into Wing Wah for an all you can eat buffet......
