They accepted 20m from Ipswich in the summer and he turned them down. Into his last 18 months now too.

The 30m quoted is ****off money. I said in another thread - call them tomorrow and get a deal agreed for next summer if they fail to get promoted. Everything all lined up - £20m including addons or something, then get it sorted before we are even back for pre-season.

He will be in the PL next year whether Boro go up or not and I think his value with continue to grow.

I was thinking this would be a £10m punt. £30m, wow!!
thats the trickle down effect. When Championship clubs see PL clubs pay £30m+ for poor players from Europe that are unsuited for PL football (no names, cough cough) why wouldn't they inflate their prices for good young English players?

I have got no doubt that Hackney will be a PL player for years to come and I am sure Boro know that too..

He's been so key for Boro this season, I'm not surprised they are doing all they can to hold of him.

Could be the difference between them getting promoted or not, and that's worth more than £30mil.

I don’t really watch much any more. But I suppose we turned down £18m for Brennan in 2022. So it is probably comparable

I think it's one of those scenarios where he's worth more than that to his club considering their position, promotion challengers in Boros case.

We seen similar with ourselves in the past. Awoniyi was probably worth £25M in our first season but to us he was worth way more than that and we would never have entertained bids unless it was seriously inflated money

One hell of a player , if we stay up he should be first port of call to replace Anderson.
Middlesbrough looked very good going forward last night and Hackney ran the show, great player and everyone will be in for him now
