EM has done this to spite Nuno hasn't he? West Ham will be gutted I reckon based on this video.

There is a link mentioned in the video, Rui Pedro Silva who was our assistant manager under Nuno gave this kid his debut at Famalicão. We didn't let Silva join Nuno initially and so he went via Wolves and has just rejoined west ham. Might have played a part in them trying to sign Sa.

This is where I disagree, I don't mind signing players and sending them on loan but why does it need to be to a less physical and competitive environment? The lad has played 100+ games in the Portuguese top flight, surely the logical next step is to get him playing somewhere a level above Portugal to test him, not a level below.
 
I feel like there's some slight revisionism going on here regarding what happened in the past, specifically regarding Stamenic and Carmo.

At the time those deals were done, there absolutely was a school of thought on here that those players were being signed to bring them into the tent, with the potential that they could potentially develop and become viable Premier League players in the future.

This one is a step up from those two in terms of fee (maybe also quality, I'm in no position to judge that), but it absolutely does feel like the same basic story as before.

a) players we wanted and could not afford them or did not want to buy them ourselves (Carmo, Stamenić, Ui-Jo Hwang);
b) players who didn't really make it at Forest and you wanted to offload them (Richards, Scarpa, Bowler, Carvalho, Tiago Silva, Jota Silva).

It's true that none of these loans worked (for either club), but Sá inaugurates a new category, exciting talents who actually have a chance for playing at Forest at some point in the future. People who have seen him play insist he is (potential) Premier material (hence West Ham's interest earlier this summer).

My god we have sent you some crap - that is embrassing. After seeing that list Olympiacos fans should hate us with a passion.
However, will say really rate Jota Silva and hope he he does well. Would have wanted him to stay with us,

I don't know about schools of thought, but both Stamenic and Carmo were quite clearly our choice. Carmo had already played for us on loan, we desperately wanted to keep him, we lured him with the dream of the Premier (and that did not end well). Stamenić was the choice of our TD, who's Serbian.
 
€20m euros including add ons so around €15m + €5m. Medical completed at Forest camp today and now flying to Athens tomorrow.
 
Brighton have been doing this for years. They buy a player, loan him out for so long their fans forget he exists then when they sell a big hitter to Chelsea bring them in ready to go having gained enough experience to be trusted. Repeat ad infinitum.

Not sure they've ever spent €20m doing it though as it becomes less of risk-free punt then.

So say MGW goes next year for £50m (taking into account contract situation) then we bring this lad back as his replacement and he cost us less than half. It's sound logic but would require both the fans and more importantly the ownership to accept they won't be getting a shiny new toy in as the work is done way ahead in advance. Some of those stable club-thingies do it...

That was my first instinct, looks like the type of player that would get mauled by the pace and physicality of the PL.

File under Carmo and Stamenic.
 
Highlights I know but he actually wins more than his share of duels, due to a combination of being pretty tall (6'2) and using his body well (Notcher gold star). He doesn't look particularly fast though.
 
Kinda plays in a similar way to the lad West Ham just sold to Spurs for £85m.

Worth the investment I would say, hopefully he has a strong season.
 
Seems people are talking rubbish, there is no mention of us in Oly’s announcement, nor have we announced anything.

Gone straight to Oly by the looks of it.
 
Yes, doesn't mention him as a loan, the official statement says they have signed from his Portuguese club

His English is very good and great to see the old keepy uppies during a player unveiling which was de riguer in the 90s

 
A contrary point is that we don't always get transparency about transactions especially where Forest-Olympiacos transfers are concerned.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if we've bought him and loaned him out.
 
FotMob is the app I use for football scores and they seem to think he has been bought by us and loaned to Olympiacos.
For some reason I can no longer post images, but it says bought for £17m and loaned to Olympiacos for 2026-27
