'96 keepers were Seaman, Flowers and Walker. Probably David James was ahead of Crossley as well. No chance he would have been included.

Also even less chance if he was that Tel would've subbed off Seaman for anyone given he was a good penalty stopper himself. Yes, Crossley did save a lot, but that kind of thing wasn't done (Robson had Beasant in the '90 squad but didn't sub off Shilton, who rarely saved a pen), I think O'Neill did it more so with Pegguy Arphexad at Leicester and was probably about the first to do so.

Seaman did manage a pen save in the group stage from McAllister and then one from Rafa's uncle in the Spain shootout. No way we would ever beat the Germans on pens (or indeed, anyone would). Honestly not sure Norm would've got nearer than Seaman.

Transfermarkt has him down as only saving 3 ever which is clearly bs. He saved more than that in the PL in 98/9

No chance anyone other than Venables would have included Walker.

Seaman saved one from McAllister against Scotland, one from Nadal against Spain and Hierro hit the bar. Spain scored their other two. Switzerland scored one past him. Germany scored six out of six. Saving 2 out 12 isn't bad, but I think the country got a little bit carried away with Euro 96 fever. From everything we saw of Crossley facing penalties, I just can't imagine him ever conceding six in a row.

Henderson did all right for us. Saved from Rice against West Ham, Kane against Spurs, Neves and Hodge against Wolves and only played for us for six months.

O'Neill made the penalty specialist keeper sub with Kalac replacing Poole in the 1995 play off final...but then Claridge shinned in a 30 yarder to win it before the pens.

Definitely saved one from Platt at Villa as well. Maybe that's it, probably not. But that would still be a total figure that is hard to beat from any Forest keeper.

Stats on this stuff from the nineties aren't very reliable. That Le Tissier figure is probably wrong, but we do know he took a lot and scored all but one.

The Le Tiss stat is true, only Crossley has saved one of his pens.

I think him, Hendo and Beasant are still the only keepers to have saved FA Cup final pens too. Hendo was a bit indifferent for us but he did keep a few pens out (in a side which basically conceded at will until Navas came in)

The Le Tissier stat is absolutely true, Crossley is the only keeper to save one of his spot-kicks, a fact I ribbed the former Southampton man about when I attended an event with Jeff Stelling, Phil Thompson and Le Tissier (for what it’s worth, „Thommo“ thought it was hilarious).

I get that Crossley being the only keeper to save a Le Tissier penalty is true, I just meant the bit about him having taken 48 may not be. Could be 38, could be 58. Nineties football data isn't reliable.

Do miss Samba, great keeper for us, still wish he stayed at the club. However, can understand going back to France for family reasons.
Never seen a more sucessful goal keeper wind up merchant. Just hope we do not play against him in the world cup, we all know how good at saving penalites he is.
Fully agree & he would have been hilarious under the Premier League spotlight. It is a shame he never played at this level, he would have been a household name with his antics.

His one handed catches & saves are the ultimate shithousery. In France, a guy shot from his own half and he just clawed it out the sky with one handed implying WTF are you doing?

For all we know, 20 of the 48 Le Tissier penalties could have been taken by crisis actors.
