Brennan Price Johnson

Sorry gambler-not being provocative, but you don't need to be mystic meg to say that contract "talks" with Brennan are going on-hes and his dad have been doing that for some time.
Just need the lad to get the ink on the paper (without a bloody release)
You don't have to tell me that, it was the most obvious thing to happen this summer.

But in all seriousness the whole saga needs to be brought to an end soon for everyone sake. The more I think about it I don't understand why he just doesn't sign a new deal-assuming we are increasing his wages by 10-20x or whatever. If we get relegated we will have no choice but to sell and if we stay up then theres a legitimate discussion about him and his position. If hes ripped up the prem, and the big sharks are circling there could be offers we simply can't refuse and if hes played poorly or gets injured then theres no discussion.
I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm not sure of the need for a release clause....

Get this done ASAP. The boy is only going to get better and better. He is a true attacker and genuinely seems happy and excited to play here.

FEIW, he looks f***ing great. Couldn’t pull it off myself but the boy has nailed it.

I don't worry about the release clause as long as it's set highly enough. 50m if we stay in the Prem (if we stay in he will undoubtedly been a big part of that) and 25m if we go down (still more than we would get for him with one year left on his deal).

As others have said, I think he's likely gone next summer either way. If we stay up he will have earned himself a move to the big boys, if we go down he will want another crack at the prem, as long as the clauses are reasonable just get him signed.

Unless we have a conveyor belt of talent ready to break into the first team squad we should be a bit more ambitious than that and be aiming to build a team around Brennan and look to enhance our status. Obviously every player has their price etc

I agree.
And you know what no one would have a problem with a high release price a la Grealish but somehow I don’t think that’s going to hapoen

Not sure if it has been posted, but Johnson has apparently agreed a new 4 year contract.
Superb news if correct. £60k seems like a fair estimate given its the average wage in the Premier League and he's our most talented player.

One thing I can guarantee is that no-one in a private Facebook group will know how much Johnson's new contract is worth unless Johnson, his agent or a club official is the one posting in the group.
