Bolton want Cohen?

Cohen is key to our promotion push. No chance.

I hope this new media love-in won't turn players' heads. That's the last thing this team needs right now.

Even if Bolton offered £10m, no chance. That amount could, possibly buy us a 'better' player. But it wouldn't buy the passion, determination and work-ethic that Cohen displayed on Friday night in particular, but throughout the last 2 and a bit years.

Why would he go to a smaller club? :p

Agreed Winnits !!!!!

The question is at 5million would you take it???????

If Bolton and Coyle slapped 5 million on the table for Cohen id snap their hand off and wave Rebbok Classics at their fans!!!!!!!

to be honest if when can buy two players, Anderson and Mckenna for 1 million i hate to think what we could do with five!!!!

Fotball ,believe it or not is on a downwards spiral and that is why the likes of Warnock and Palace are asking 5-6 million for an unproven prospect ,living in the hope that one overhead snip and a bit of nippiness is worth that ammount of money......

know thats a load of bullocks......

I could have sworn that Marthur stated not too long ago that we are no longer a 'selling club'. Nevertheless, I'm sure that Doughty will have learnt from past mistakes and not be tempted to start dismantling a team that has genuine promotion potential. Cohen is an integral part of our development and letting a key player like him go could well disrupt the harmony in the dressing room that Marthur was banging on about as an excuse not to being any new faces in.

Surely a good businessman would recognise that it is not worth sacrificing a potential windfall of at least £20 million if we are still where we are now in May for £5 million short-term gain?

Somebody said they would say no to £10mil, but that would be an incredible price for him.
However I dont think we can put true value on him because we don't know how much Doughty has and what that £10mil would mean to the club.

Baggio.................

what im trying to put across is that someone is valueing the Premiership at 20 million and quoting the value of Cohen at 5 ........

They are stating that a quick 5 million gain on Cohen would be wrong as he believes Cohen is the difference between us gaining promotion and not

Concerning Mckenna what his his value to our team then for our 'promotion credentials' (as this is what Red Outlaw is using as a comparison)

Hope you understand.

I get the 1/4 thing.

What I don't get is the reference to McKenna or the 'let me get my house'.

You can't really put a worth on each players value towards our promotion push because it's a team game. Nobody has any idea what losing a player might do to the whole dynamics of the team. We might sell him and carry on as we are, we might drop to bits. You've also got to consider replacements, can we get someone as good, consistent and as versatile as Cohen, who'll come in and be as good from the off, in a tight January window?

I don't see any benefit in selling any of our key players this window. Cohen's age and contract situation means he's not going to lose value in a hurry. If we miss out on promotion and someone offers similar in the summer then I'd completely understand if we took it because we'd have ample time to reinvest and rebuild.

what im to to express is that Mckenna in my opinion is of great value to our squad as much/ if not more than Cohen....dont get me wrong Cohen is invaluable but for such a rated value as 5M i just pose the question of what is Mckenna worth to us 'this season'.

'Let me get my house' is apersonal phrase as in id put my mortage on it do to the 1/4 betting statement ;D no worries ;D

and i have no reason to believe we will sell either ..if Billy states Adebola is going nowhere i dont believe Cohen will be pushed even for 5million................ some good points well put across there though Baggio

If that was offered, it would be accepted.

If someone offered us £5m for Cohen we'd have to have a very strong willpower not to at least consider it seriously. Every player has his price and £5m would be a good return on our investment.

I'd like us to tell them to f*** off though.

I'd hold on to Cohen. I don't think we've seen the best of him yet.

I agree.

I know this sounds materialistic, but if we give him a season or two to shine (which he obviously will), he'll get a couple of mill added to him easily.

Is there a replacement who is more talented, more hardworking and can cover more positions? I can't think of one.

To replace Cohen we would have to buy 3 good players. We don't need their money.

If Billy thought that £5M would enable us to replace Cohen with better then I'm fairly sure we would sell. The odds of that would be higher in the summer though, as we all know that business is difficult in January. The last thing we would want to do is sell Cohen and then not be able to replace him in time

The good thing for me is that Cohen seems like a grounded kind of guy and not the sort to get his head turned by the lure of more money. Here's hoping .....

Guys, if a £5m bid came in i could understand if the club accepted it. Yes he's young, and yes he's got loads of energy, but in terms of where he's at right now, he's not the ball winner that McKenna is, and he's not the same creative influence as Raddy.

His final ball really lets him down. Dont get me wrong, i love the guy to bits because he has the passion and determination that we havent seen in a red shirt for a very long time, and those characteristics are rare these days, but i think he would get found out in the prem. And £5m is an awful lot of money

I could reconcile his sale if it meant Billy was given £5m extra for his transfer kitty. But I would want to see Billy bring his own man in during the Jan window so we dont compromise this seasons promotion effort. We could probably get Charlie Adam for a lot less than £5m. In fact the change would probably pay for another player of Nicky Shoreys calibre.

(Puts on the tin hat and awaits flak)

I think you're right with pretty much all of that. Just don't think it would happen in January because of the risks of not being able to spend the money.

If we don't get promoted and Bolton come back with the same offer in the summer, I could see it happening.
