What the in the world are the words to this chant? A Block often start it and don't stop for 10 minutes, by which time I still can't tell what they're saying.

When Derby go down again, again
We'll sing, we'll sing
When Derby go down again, again
We'll sing, we'll sing
When Ian Moore scores a goal*
You can shove your Hector up your hole
And we'll all go made when
Derby go down again

That one?

* This is what they should be singing, most of them sing Ian Woan, bizarrely, who is obviously of a completely different era to Hector.

I reckon that's the one serry! Thanks.

It seems they're on about something back in the day that means nothing to me though. Anyone care to tell the tale of Woan, Hector and Moore?

Here's a warm hearth for atmosphere.

Hector was a Derby player of some renown.

Ian (Storey-)Moore was a rather splendid Forest striker of the same era.

Ian Woan was a winger of completely different era who shouldn't be in the song.

That's it really.

I guess the moral of the story is "We'll be happy when Derby get relegated again, and even though Hector's quite good, they can shove him up their arse because we've got Ian Storey-Moore and he scores goals"

:)

It's about time we came up with something to epitomise the current Derby shambles, latterly of course we had "There's a circus in the town.." to celebrate the wonderful shitness that Arthur Cox and Robert Maxwell's era managed to serve up.

Both 'There's a circus in the town' and 'When Derby go down again' are classics always worthy of an airing. No doubt someone will come up with one to describe our current situations, although the 15 years we had spent in their shadow before this season haven't given us much to sing about.

The home game this season threw out the chant about Commons giving the ball away for Tyson to make him pay, that's the sort of thing we need to be chanting about. And I also enjoyed 'What's that coming in the window, is it a sheep's head, is it a sheep's head?'

I like this little ditty from the 70s:

All I want is a walking stick,

A hand grenade and a building brick,

And a Derby fan to kick,

Wouldn't it be Lovely?

How about a little updating...

When Derby go down again, again
We'll sing, we'll sing
When Derby go down again, again
We'll sing, we'll sing
When Nathan Tyson scores a goal
You can shove your Commons up your hole
And we'll all go mad when
Derby go down again

Ian Bowyer is known to be sung also...

And Ian Wallace.

Basically, if you're called Ian and have played for Forest you've probably had an appearance in there :D

I always sing Ian Bowyer, wasn't he more contemporary to Kevin Hector than Storey-Moore?

What about Eion Jess?

Maybe, not really my era (despite appearances :p )... some of the older gents have always maintained it should be 'Ian Moore' though so I'll trust 'em :D

It was only a few years ago I heard this song for the first time.

The me and the Mrs always wondered what they were singing until we fathomed it out. I've only ever heard Ian Bowyer mentioned.

Yeah obviously Ian Storey Moore was around slightly before Gary Charles.

I meant I thought that song was adapted for his own goal.

As one who sang the song when the duo were actually playing I can confirm it was Kevin Hector and Ian Moore.
Should we perchance beat Brum then the Everton cup-tie will bring memories of one of the best games at the CG in the last 50 years when we came back to win 3-2 with Ian Moore scoring all 3. FA Cup quarter final. What a game. :)
