Blackstock Leading the Line

Amidst the euphoria of yesterdays result and gardening this afternoon, have forgot to pop this on the boards until now.......

When was the last time a Forest forward, led the line with so much strength, ability and intelligence, coupled to this he was physically involved so many challenges and yet so importantly failed to concede many free kicks.

Absolutely delighted with his contribution yesterday, certainly a player who I would love to see signed for us next year, based on this game alone. What or why on earth did QPR let him go. Does his contract expire soon, upset someone, rogered the managers daughter...........he looks too good to be true.

Wasn't QPR's manager like the Swansea manager, buying players from god knows where?

Needless to say, I'm delighted with Blackstock, attitude was second to none.

I agree with Sedgred 100%.

His contribution to the goal was outstanding, but I was so impressed earlier in the match when he held the ball up for ages waiting for Cohen ot make a run, then swivelled and passed it, setting him loose. It was given as off side, but I thought that may have been a poor call.

If I was a little Welsh goal wizard I would be breaking down Doughty's door to release the funds to sign Blackstock. He looks to be the perfect foil and as a partnership they'd net so many.

Not only yesterday, but since hes moved here.

vs Barnsley held the ball up in the area before it bobbled to Earnshaw to score = 1 point

vs Bristol City scored the winning goal and lead the line perfectly all game = 3 points

vs Sheff Utd bright start but limited to chasing the ball for the rest of the game = 1 point

vs Coventry as per sedgred's post, + an assist = 3 points

He's probably as vital to our end of season form as Ormerod was last season.

and hasnt QPRs manager been sacked the other week, this was either a rumour or true im not sure?? he was the one who wanted Blackstock to stay at the club but the chairman loaned him out behind his back. Without the manager and the chairman happy to make some money out of him... hopefully we will have him next season :)

it was never offside and cohen was well on his way as well! blackstock looks a real handful for defenders and i really hope that if we stay up we can make him a permanent signing.

No wonder my post count..
We would have the finest partnership in the league by far, should he sign.

I'm not sure about that, It'd be a good 'un though.

I've been banging the 'we need a physical presence up front' drum since last summer and it's no suprise that Earnie and Garner have looked much better playing alongside one.

You really have to question Calderwood (or maybe the transfer panel) for expecting 3 lightweight's and an old codger to get us through a season against some of the back fours in the Championship.

I heard at the game yesterday and it's probably totally rubbish, that we can sign for for a further £1.5m in the summer, adding to the £350k we've already paid for the loan.

Totally agree.

Not wishing to moan (ok I am) I remember saying on a few message boards that we needed a big centre forward at the start of the season and a number of people gave me shit saying that we did not need another Dadi, Taylor, etc. I hope that maybe now some people realise the value of forwards of this type and recognise that not every striker with physical presence is a donkey.

He's been a complete breath of fresh air. Against Bristol City he was anonymous for a long time, but he also made some extremely positive contributions - two of which won us the game.

Exactly.

Mark Viduka and Alan Smith might have something to say about that, but it would certainly be a cracking partnership.

Blackstock is a magnificent player, a 'target man' without giving away a million free kicks like Gareth Taylor, with pace and athleticism that Gary Jones could only dream of, and with determination and bottle to boot.

Get the wheels of signing him up in motion the minute we secure our safety, I say.

Agree 100% with all the above

We need to be making him a signing as soon as the transfer window opens.

Gunter as well, his commitment has been second to non along with Blackstock. We need these type of players.

That sounds like something I probably would have said!

I still maintain that it's not essential to have a player like this, I mean I'd happily have two Robinhos up front for us, but Blackstock has probably show how to play this position as well as anyone since probably like Kevin Campbell. I did have nightmares about Dadi and Taylor, which is largely why I was against Davies appointment, but whether the transfer panel is responsible or it's Davies personal choice to sign the type of players we have done I don't really mind, I just love what this club is trying to do. :)

First time I'd seen him play and I thought he was awesome. Even my mrs, who knows nothing about football kept saying to me "Ooo he's good int he?" She also liked "that young boy over there" (Chris Gunter) Must say I was impressed with him too, does look on a different level IMO.

Special mention to Cohen again though, he and McGugan were MOM's. Anyone see the highlights where Cohen makes up all that ground, gets brought down then gets up and fires a shot which is well saved? That's him all over.

Forest's own Steven Gerrard.

I'm sure when we announced the loan we said that we had agreed a fee aswell?

I believe that's true. Clearly Davies was incredibly shrewd to notice how desperately we needed a target man, and when he saw one of Blackstock's quality was available he took his case to our Nige. And Nige is obviously supportive enough to pay a loan fee for a player, which I'd have thought is fairly uncommon.

Great transfer work all round.

I wonder to what extent the "Transfer Acquisition Panel" was involved?

David Pleat went to West London to have a look at him. Unfortunately he got lost, and had to ask for directions...

Yeah, there was a future fee dependant on whether we stay up or not.

I forgot all about this, but you're right.

Are QPR obliged to accept this if we bid it, or is that the fee and they can choose to turn it down outright?

Matt90

I think they have to accept it because we paid a fee for the loan...thats how it works on FM anyway

It all depends on us staying up though.

They are obliged to accept the bid.

Expect the future fee to be around £3 million. We probably paid near around half a million for the loan spell.
