Blackstock 'Happy' at QPR

Would have been nice if he'd have come, but this possibly puts and end to it now. We need to focus on other positions anyway. I'm getting slightly concerned that this is reminiscent of last season, focus on the attacking department of the team and players brought in early but upto now a neglect of the defence, although yes I know players have been linked and working hard to get them. Time ticks away.

While Blackstock did well when he was here, I think people are going a little over the top with how good he actually is. We should be concentrating on the defence now rather than more strikers. I would prefer us to sign him but wouldn't be too fussed if he didn't end up here.

I'm not convinced by Blackstock's or Magilton's comments over this - it's almost a call to Forest to complete their business.

This quote made me laugh though....
Asked if funds will be made available for new players, Magilton added: "I'll go and identify a player, present it to the board and if the board say 'yes', wonderful, and we'll say 'A, B, C - one, two, three' whatever it takes to get good players into the club."

I agree. I was impressed with adebola at the weekend and I think that BD has done a very shrewd bit of business getting him on a free rather than paying for Blackstock.

Fair play to him. He wants to serve the last year of his contract out at his club and is happy there.

He did well for us and we should all be grateful for what he did for us.

Without that goal against Brizzle :bristolfan:, we would have very much been in the mire!

What Magilton or Blackstock say about his future at the club is irrelevant.

There is only one boss at QPR, and it ain't Magilton.

This actually sounds very encouraging. Neither Blackstock nor his manager have given the impression that he's settled back in at Q.P.R.

good to see other people not getting too excited over Blackstock... he bought a great work ethic up front, but Adebola is much more imposing and also has a good turn of pace for a big fellla.

Get over him... Lets get our defence sorted and Mckenna

I really can't see the need for 6 strikers anyway. Hopefully it was a ploy by Billy to keep everyone on their toes.

To be fair to Blackstock, he can't really say he hates it at QPR while they are employing him and no move looks close to happening. He's got to think about himself and his family and you don;t want to upset those at QPR While he is still there...

Would have been nice to have him, and maybe we will one day. he is still only young.... he will always be respected at Forest for his time here and he scored some inportant goals.

I really would like to see Dex be a Forest player, I thought he provided the right outlet, last season, that we had been missing. I know Adebola could do that job as well, but I'd like to see Dex sign for us still.

Furthermore, for Dex to say he wanted to leave would mean him losing out on a pay off of some description....

Flavio doesn't want him, Jim Magilton does... If we've bid 1.6million for a player the board don't want who only has a year left on his contract....

In 6 months he can start talking to other clubs. We should offer him a contract then in time for next season to eventually replace Adebola.

Paying over 1 million when his contract is ending is too much.

Depends on the player and their potential value to your club.

I'd pay over £1m for Eto'o at the moment.

i'd rather spend the money on a bit of defensive cover, then, as said, try and get him on a free

That's assuming he doesn't sign a new contract, there's also the possibility a lot of other clubs will be interested in him then.

true but we have enough strikers at the minute, judging by the friendly adebola can do more than just a job this season, i think six strikers will lead to trouble

I wasn't saying do it just pointing out a few potential problems in doing it.

I think we're going to have six strikers by the start of the season, regardless of if the fans think it's a good idea. Billy has spouted on about doing it plenty of times and to not do so would make himself look a little silly now.

I don't think either we have the choice of a 6th striker or a defender, I imagine we're going for both anyway.

I think Blackstock would fit well with out current strikers and is at a good age too, we could potentially build a long lasting partnership for this club with him, Garner and McGoldrick that stays with the club for many a year. With the right development plan and the bond that would be former they could be the cornerstone of a premiership standard attacking in line somewhere down the line.

i don't doubt we will have six strikers, as you say billy will look daft after banging on about it so much, just think it'll cause trouble

i hope you are right, but it's not just about money, if we spend too much time on one deal we might miss one

I don't mean generally. I mean specifically Blackstock.
