Bit of an Idea......can anyone follow it through

Right yesterdays performance highlighted for me a growing cringeworthy effect at the City Ground, not just on the pitch either.

I am older than the vast majority on here, thus along with others have witnessed the changes that football in general has evolved with, old stadiums with character and pride, but facilities that threat the paying punters little better than a cattle market are things of the past, or will be eventually bearing in mind the trips to Chesterfield :) etc.

Todays modern Stadiums though are the pinnacle of souless rows of seating, sterile bowls of either empty seats or mindless humanity waiting to respond to false promptings from the PA system. Oh when I have visited PP, the enormous pride I have felt being a Forest fan, born in a City for all it's well publicised problems has a fan base with a mind of it's own.

Not for us a silly song to run out to, sounds like it was written at the time when Telly's were Black and White and a good film on the box after Star Soccer was the staple Sunday afternoon. Not for us the Americanised false drummer, trying to lead some orchestrated atmosphere. We are from Nottingham, we are awkward, loyal, demanding fans, but we are Independent. We respond when and how we want. We like to think of ourselves as original, many of ditties and songs I have heard over the years has always bought a smile to my face..............We reward the team with applause and enthusiasm when we are pleased, we reserve the right to throw hero worship out of the window and let the same team know the displeasure we feel........................We are from Nottingham, we know our own minds and feelings at any particular time during the game.

I hate this growing PA crowd control, playing music when we score, the Band to Play Mull Of Kintyre, as the teams came out. Every thing to try and whip up a controlled atmosphere. These pathetic practises were highlighted for me yesterday when Ernie scored..............It was frankly embarrassing

Can some one ( This is where I pass the bullet ), We have our media whores with contacts, organise via the media or direct contact with the club, some kind of petition across the other web sites to ask the club to tone this down, or even forget all about it. I do feel the best way to generate atmosphere within the ground is leave it to the fans, come on Forest we are a club of firsts, lets be the first to ditch this type of crap and bring back a bit of reality to the ground.............as the fans gather, the atmosphere will build up on it's own........this will carry on into the game.....I feel this will actually encourage our younger more vocal fans to get started and the rest of us older ones to occasionally join in with the choir.

Am I yearning for something that is not there, or does this seem feasible ?

Its all transatlantic crap where they need music to be played to let them know something has happened. Can do without it.

If they spent a little less by cutting out that crap and save on the licences they might have just enough money to help buy a player.....

Im sick to death of hearing Beautiful Day by U2 and that shite sing along tune thats played when we score too.

I think the idea of the Mull of Kintyre band as a one off wasnt bad.........sadly it fell on its arse as we couldnt hear it.

For once, I think the motives of the club are right - to try and whip up a bit of enthusiasm.

Sadly though, the only thing that really does the trick is a bit of optimism on the pitch. And that is in very short supply.

I too really really hate the goal music, theres no need for it - it all seems too forced. As if we wouldnt go mental when we scored anyway

Not disagreeing with what you say , but surely at a football matches, the way to whip up a bit of enthusiasm is to see good football being played.
I too cringe at the managed attempts to get the crowd going, there is only one f***ing way to make me jump up out of my seat , that's a goal, for us.

Goal music? Do they play music when we score? I've actually never noticed. :D

You mean you don't like Chelsea Dagger!

Well our camp announcer doesn't exactly whip up any enthusiasm before the game. He often sounds bored sh**less!

The problem is that we don't really have a "kop" end to start the chanting, we have a small corner upper tier and a small block in the main stand either side of the away fans.

It's a shame it wasn't HMV that went through rather than xavvi at least then we'd be spared the "HMV top dog for music" every 3 minutes!

I jump and jiggle when we score and have never actually noticed that we play anything. I guess it all just mingles in with the whole experience.

I would certainly like to jump and jiggle more often. :D

I couldn't help but laugh when Chelsea Dagger came on after Earnie's goal. Even better, someone a few rows in front threw some glitter or shiny confetti pieces in the air! I expect it was ironic, either way it made me laugh.

I agree, the goal music should go. The band before the game wasn't a bad idea, but as has been mentioned they weren't really loud enough. I do like Mull of Kintyre at kick off, though the crowd seem to really struggle to keep in time lol

In terms of improving the atmosphere, the first thing I would do is move the home fans back into the lower Bridgford. I know the police have said it isn't viable, but there must be somewhere we can put the away fans and keep things safe. The acoustics in the Bridgford are brilliant, and I've always thought it's best to have home fans behind the goal. Villa have made this change this season and look at their form! (I'm aware this is largely down to O'Neill!)

Forest as a club needs a total revamp.

There are so many things that need to be changed, but I don't really care about them now, lets buck up our form, get some players in.

Makes total sense mate. it seems like the club is trying to turn the CG into the Nottingham Ice Arena, and the team into the Panthers !

I do like the 'Mull of Kintyre' as the team run out but that's it.

NO music after goals

NO bands (possibly a drummer only)

NO random songs being thrown in as intro music.

Although I'm not too bothered about the Robin Hood tune. After all it's part of what Nottingham is !
I sat and watched a few things last night, after reading a post on Nottingham's successes vs derby's. Froch, Torville and Dean (how good is that Bolero ?) the european cups etc.

However the club is as guilty as the City in one major factor. Selling out

only song that needs to be played imho is born slipy as the teams come out that still send a tingle down my spine when I hear it and no matter where I am I want to let out a cry of NOTTINGHAM!!!!!!! that song was always the cue to get A block ging and should of never been scraped, I hate the music after the goals it confuses the fans and people dont know what to sing at times.

I had a season ticket that season the old trent end was pulled down and we had the lower bridgeford, capacity dropped to around 21000 but the atmosphere was brilliant, possibly on average better than it ever has been since,
surely the club and coppers can sort out 2500 to 3000 seats in the lower BC for away fans. It's been done before as I remember Leeds having all the lower tier of BC in the early 90's

Forest and Public relations....always been p**s poor

more concerned about the state of the team at the moment though and attempts to bring in some badly needed loan signings to freshen things up

Hearing Chelsea Dagger and seeing the Derby fans' faces as it came on was the most embarrased I've felt being a Forest fan (including Yeovil)

I think it's safe to say our Derby isn't even in the top ten of the country.

I think you may find that "Beautiful Day" is a contractual requirement of the Coca Cola Championship - a bit like how the "Champions' League [sic]" has to play that bastardised anthem before every match.

With you on the band yesterday - would have been terriffic if we could have heard it - and it could have been the answer to the often-asked request for an instrumental version of Mull of Kintyre.

I think on that one, I'd forgive the club for trying it again, but with technical assistance next time.

I agree Sedgred - but can I throw you a curved ball?
On SkyNews the other week they stated that FIFA had expressed a concern regarding England World Cup bid that there was no suitable stadium in the East Midlands.
Now is ND going to let The Sheep steal the show with an enlarged PP? Or is he going to seize the initiative and create the preferred venue where we all know it should be? - In Nottingham. (Nottingham has to be a preferred venue when compared to poxy D**by for a number of sound reasons)
Based on how reluctant the club has been of recent to invest in its future - what is his cunning/devious plan? Because he WILL have one!

Derby have taken the women's FA Cup Final off us also!!

Their 2009/10 season tickets have been on sale for over a week or so.

Forest are a shambles not only on the pitch due to Doughtys lack of ambition, but off the pitch our marketing/sales department are a farce.

Doughty will only be looking at a new stadium if there is something in it for him. Does a new stadium then make us more of a desirable asset that can be sold for financial gain?

Direby's owners are cute operators who are years ahead of Forest who are stuck in the dark ages. direby can easily expand their stadium without too much disruption.

If World Cup football was ever to come to the East Midlands its only ever going one place I'm afraid.

On the plus side - PP is nearer for me. :D

In the absence of good news on the transfer or staving-off-relegation fronts, you can bet your arse that there will be a ND/MA smokescreen put up, in the shape and flavour of the Clifton Mega-Toilet....

Its better to hear the fans cheering/singing after goals.
Also it seen to to like the stewards get board so start trying throw fans out,i saw 5/6 get throw out just for standing n trying get songs going.

Not once we're derby fans to sit, most fans where i was sat, near away end,we're stood all match. just sit, then chant stand up if you hate derby.

Many laugh out loud when 1 steward told some man to sit,he reply with We're at football not school. or somethink like that. she then went got 2 bigger stewards to Kick fans out.

Derby did not take the Women's FA Cup Final from us. I understand that we couldn't support it due to our fixtures yet we will be hosting the England's U21 match against France. :-*
