Birmingham Home Ticket Farce

Hi all ,i did as the official site said and i pre booked my tickets for the cup game, When i arrived at the ground with about half an hour to go until until kick off i was told to join the back of the Q if i wanted to collect my tickets. Now the back of the Q was past the club shop, through a car park and almost at the Trent End!! To make matters worse anyone who had not pre ordered and just wanted to get a ticket could just walk straight into the ticket office without any Q!!!.

Did anyone else have this problem ??

Cant help thinking that it costs an extra quid to pre order your tickets (even if you are collecting them????) have Forest just taken advantage of this...???

That is true however half an hour before KO to COLLECT tickets should be enough time you would think.
Also on the official site it did say to pre order to AVOID big Q's!!

Yeah, arrive early to avoid big queues.

Most people arrive at the ground around half an hour before kick off when they already have tickets, so why do you think that's enough to collect one as well?

Anyone would have realised that it would be busy on the day with people deciding last minute to go to the game.

Every other time i have ordered tickets and had to collect them the biggest Q i have had to stand in was about 4 deep half an hour before KO !!

It kinda annoyed me that the club panic everyone into pre ordering a ticket as they expect big Q's in the ticket office so you do as advised and find out that if you had done the opposite and just brought one on the day you would have been in and out in 2 mins.

Its just another example of shambolic organisation by Forest in terms of the ticketing distribution been going on for years.

SORT IT OUT FOREST !!!

if you leave anything until matchday your always gonna queue. If it's collecting tickets on pre order or buying from the ticket office. Nothing shambolic about it, if more people got tickets on pre order there is nothing Forest can do about it, it was the same for the Cov game, the same queue was packed that day.

I understand that i would have to queue on match day but for 40 mins when i have already paid for them!!??? surely is a bit wrong. I have a season ticket and am an away member so dont normally have to queue for tickets i feel sorry for the people that do !!

The Forest ticket office has been a joke since around 1988 in my opinon !!!!!

Agree, the ticket office is a bit of a joke - but in this case i feel both parties have a case: in this case it was an F.A Cup match so no one gets in with there season ticket, which menas 17k home fans have to at some stage buy / collect their tickets (unless they were posted). Obviuosly with a league match, season ticket holders get straight so its just people who buy match tickets that que. The Coventry game was exceptionally busy as it sold out so im sure 1000's pick up on match day. I suppose the club issue the statement of 'get the early' so this situation doesnt occurv as they cant predict exaclty how many fans will arrive on the day. Also it covers their arses in the aftermath!

It can be a bit of pain queing but if you arrive around 2 hours before KO then you should be ok. Some people may be working and cant get these are the unlucky ones. Also people who dont live close cant nip to the ground and get them before matchday. I think in this case its lesson learnt - it was same for me at the Cov game. In future ill get them posted (this time it was crimbo so didnt risk it) or get there well early and have more drinking time ;D

There arnt enough collection desks for pre ordered tickets, this is my main gripe. Im sure they woint be adding more at the CG - just hope if we get a new stadium (thats for another thread!) they think this area through very carefully!

Morale of the story - get there earlier

Like most things at Forest, the ticket distribution and ground entry systems are ridiculously backward.

The sooner we bring in front loaded credit card type systems like the one at Man City, the better. No more need then for tickets, nor cash for that matter. Having been to City a few times, I can vouch for its efficiency, so we could all then kiss goodbye to queues for anything (unless Forest go for some del-boy swiper system at the turnstyles that packs up within a month - which, of course, they probably will).

I suspect that the introduction of a modern system of ticket distribution and ground admission has been endlessly delayed due to the club's desire to move elsewhere. So it'll be 2018 (at the earliest) before we see the end of that mazey Main Stand queue.

In the meantime, get your ticket then go to the pub, rather than the other way round.

I too was one of those in the queue for pre-booked tickets, so I'm totally behind you on this one. I've collected pre-booked tickets many times in the past, never queuing for more than 5 minutes if at all, so half an hour seemed very reasonable. I don't think you could have any arguments if you just turned up on the day, but come on. Pre booked! The club would have known dam well there was 5,000 tickets say in the office waiting to be picked up, but made no arrangements whatsoever to either move them to the much bigger, deserted ticket office.

Bit of a nonsense really I think.

I can understand how pissed people would have been but you can't move collection offices at short notice. Look at the confusion it would have caused and people would have missed the start of the match i'm sure.

Agreed this is much easier, a simple card entry system like what is used at Man City or Old Trafford or even like what is used on the underground in London. Not sure what costs would be to set it all up though . . .

I thought you collected prebooked tickets after midday from the window at the back of the main stand. I suspect if you asked a steward or similar then perhaps they misdirected you to that particularly queue.

Frustrating, but Forest do put on the website (and on their online booking system) where to collect tickets from.

I watched my mate's parents pick up their tickets from the ticket collection point on the back of the Main Stand.

They started queuing at 2.50pm and were no more than a minute or two.

The ticket office's queue did look brutal, though.

We bought our tickets from the BC ticket office where there was no queue at all at around 2:30.

Just as well, the guy took around ten minutes to complete the transaction, unable to get his head round we were claiming the discount for ST holders.

Had to do the same against Coventry (which had 7000 more fans at the game) Queue was well outside the car park so I just walked down to the front no one was at the window for the letter I need so just walked up collected my tickets and went. Half the reason the queue is so big is because half the people there dont have a clue which window to go to so just form one seemingly massive queue. However I would never ever queue for the actual ticket office before any game you have to be some sort of spastic to even consider buying tickets from there up to an hour before the game.

Ithink we could do without the use of spastic, its an archaic derogatory term and not very nice.
