Billy wants it all.

And Davies says that he wants to take on responsibility for the club's successes or failures in the transfer market.

"A manager should be a manager of every football club," said Davies, who was frustrated as City netted a late equaliser to deny the Reds all three points on Saturday.

"A manager does not want to complain about budget or financial constraint, but he does want to find out what the budget is and what he is working with.

"Then he can go and do what he does best, which is identify and recommend players.

"Then he can either get patted on the back or sacked for the job he has done. Maybe that is too old fashioned for some, but not for me.

I'd only agree with Billy on this if he agreed that should any of his transfers turn out to be duds that he would personally refund the club for the amount spent on the acquisition and the players wages.
Billy should stop worrying. At the end of the season, if we finish around about where we are now, it wont be David Pleat everybody is congratulating!!

it would be nice if we had a little money and i think if we carty on performing we could attract some more decent players!

Manage the football club, Billy. Let the guys who wouldn't spend millions of pounds on Claude Davis sign the players.

Billy didn't spend that much at Derby.

Yes, he may have bought poorly, but he wasn't backed with wads of cash and Jewell made even worse signings in my opinion when he created a 'Championship' squad in January.

And some of his 'own' signings here have been a success(McKenna,Blackstock etc)so we should have more faith and trust in Billy really.

..not to the point where it could be detrimental to the club in the long term.

I agree some of the signings have been great, most infact, but we'll never know the full extent of the AP influence in us not being held to ransom, paying too much for average players and getting a massive squad of so so players.

We've too little money to start playing fast and loose with it. Better to maintain the model that has got us this far, back from the last time we gave the purse strings to a manager.

What's his worst do we think? Lynch? McGoldrick?

I think Lynch is probably the worst, but I don't think any of them are bad signings.

McGoldrick's a good player, but he can't play up front on his own.

Probably Lynch, but that said there's been times when we've really needed him and he's done well. Back end of last year for example.

His worst was probably either Lynch or Turner - but Tuner was only an emergency loan (and he only featured in 3 games, but looked shakier than Smith) and Joel was a Calderwood player who Billy chose to sign - and for £200k, it's hardly a bad signing.

And at only 22 years old there's plenty of scope for improvement.
