Nottingham Forest's Billy Davies unsure over transfers

Davies' Forest are unbeaten in 13 league matches
Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies has said he does not know if the club will bring in new players in the January transfer window.

He told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I don't know if there's any money available.

"I don't know what the situation is with funds... there's no budget at Forest and we'll just have to wait and see what becomes available."

"I've recommended a number of players to the board. Now we'll see what develops over the next few weeks."

Davies added: "As far as I'm concerned time will tell."

Forest face Preston at home in the league on Saturday and lie three points off an automatic promotion place with an unbeaten league run of 13 games.

Well, it confirms there's no budget. Just signings on a player by player basis ! It seems he has his targets nice and early anyway. I'm hoping that the board don't think we are doing so well we don't need any new blood ! The loan of Shorey state the club know we need a left-back, and I'm praying, even if we only sign one, that this is the target area. Here's hoping Shorey is the one he's earmarked !

Another thought struck me. Should we lose McKenna for any period who would cover ? Moussi is the ideal bet, and I for one wouldn't be surprised if he is being shaped into a McKenna type player, but following injuries I'm still unsure he is quite ready for that responsibility ! Apart from that I really don't think there is anyone at the club who could perform that midfield general role. Fingers crossed this is another area we are looking at. Maybe a young lad McKenna could tutor and bring on to his standard !

With, arguably the most important, role lacking this cover is there anyone you would like to see brought in ?

Make Shorey's loan spell permanent! 8)

Yep :)

To be honest I wouldn't want yo disrupt the harmony at the club too much right now, so I wouldn't be too upset if Shorey was the only permanent signing.

Add Bale on Loan and that'd be a top notch January in my opinion :)

I agree. At risk of upsetting certain quarters, any signing would be an improvement on previous Januarys.

Getting Shorey on a permanant deal would make it a very good January. Add Bale (or similar) would make it an excellent January and anything above tha would be superb.

I just have a feeling that this season everything is going to be different.

Shorey permanently, Bale or other feasible left wing option, and make Raddy's move permanent.

I'd be very happy with that. Very indeed.

Agreed, but I'd happier with one or the other with Bale and Shorey. Would prefer to have Shorey and another pacey Left winger and of course Raddy being brought in permanently.

Shorey must be signed permenantly if Villa are willing to do business and he is prepared to drop down a level. If not then get him on loan until the end of the season with no recall clause from Villa preferably!

Get Majewski on a permeant deal too. Other than that the squad we have is fine and more than equipped in quality and depth to sustain our promotion push.

To be honest I see no point in making Raddie permanent until the end of the season as we have 'right to buy'. Bale or Shorey will be wrapped up but I too would like to see a pacey out 'n' out left winger (love Tys to bits but he's made of bolser wood unfortunately)

i think that we should give mcleary his chance at being an out an out attacking winger with s couple of starts if not maybe Leroy Lita or Nassa Barazite or watever hes called are good players

We have a season's loan with a first option on a permanent deal for £1.5m
He's probably good value at that, I think he sees Forest as a stepping stone to greater things, not sure he's right though.

Wasn't Barazite the one who had his penalty saved by Camp last season?

Parasite :) lol He looked skillful but very lightweight, flattered to deceive I thought.

I think he was the fella that took the penalty, yes.

i also think sometimes that mcleary really is a top player, because in tight and scrappy games he is so confident and direct it surprises the opponent, he needs to work on his crossing though
