billy to celtic......

don't reckon this will happen just because i believe billy feels he has unfinished business in the premiership

Celtic will consider Billy Davies as a candidate to become their new manager after it emerged that he would in principle be agreeable to leaving Nottingham Forest to return to his native Glasgow

this is a weird weird paragraph. reckon this would probably be used as leverage by davies for a better contract/conditions rather than him leaving.

I would always worry if a serious opportunity to go back to Glasgow came up. It must be tempting for him... better money, more transfer autonomny and of course, closeness to his family.

bloke at work told me today and I said it was bollox im still of this opinion but the fact he hasn't moved closer to nottingham could add fuel to it, if we loose in play offs id say he would take it

I think if it was a serious offer he'd be a fool not to consider it, if we take away the Forest blinkers we all have. Even taking his personal circumstances out of the equation it would be a huge opportunity for him.

I thought he lived pretty close, that new trent park development.

According to Celtic fans and members over here, Mick McCarthy is rumoured to be
taking over the Celtic job.

Billy is a Rangers man, thats the job he wants, if he takes over Celtic he can kiss his Rangers dream goodbye.

The other question is how do you win over the fans of Celtic when you are such a Rangers fan. I am not sure that it is ever going to be possible.

well he was derbys former manager and we have warmed to him, not the same as being a fan but people do forget, dont forget we have a derby fan in goal

I understand Billy to be a Rangers fella.

It's as serious as religion up there between Rengers and Celtic, your one or the other and would never go to the other.

I don't know if beating Rangers would be enough to be honest.

And yes, we warmed to him. The rivalry between us and Derby though is nothing compared to Rangers and Celtic. It's like RedMark says, it pretty much amounts to a religion up there. Some players have switched and have had a lot of abuse for it.

If Celtic fans warmed to Neil Lennon they would warm to anyone.

Celtic and Rangers is a religous thing over here, even though most of the twats that
support them are not even religous themselves.

Both sets of fans are deluded, they would back any manager they could get.

If Billy went to Celtic the fans would not care, they would see it as getting one
over Rangers.

Kenny Millar played for Rangers and later played for Celtic. Then he went back to Rangers
and at his press conference he said he never kissed the Celtic badge.

Rangers fans accepted him right away.

Having your manager linked to other clubs is a hazard of performing well.

Evidence from the past suggests that Davies will not rule himself out of the Celtic job, but will in the very least use it as leverage to either get better from the club in terms of transfer funds and wages, or his own terms. I wasn't around to see it, but from what I read, Cloughie did the same.

It was interesting that Owen Coyle chose to stay at Burnley rather than take the Celtic job at the start of the season. He later took the Bolton job. So he valued Premiership football with any side higher than Celtic, but didn't have any hang ups about moving on from Burnley.

Celtic are likely to sit out appointing a manager until the season is long over, possibly even until the World Cup is over. So Celtic and Davies by then will know what league Forest will be in.

Whether Celtic have the money to buy Davies out of his Forest contract and whether Forest would be inclined to have an unhappy manager at the helm is another thing.

But a Rangers man at Celtic? It would be a hard sell for the fans, I just think there's too much about this deal for it ever to go through.

You can get odds of 40/1 on Billy Davies being the next Celtic manager on Betfair. If you're worried, pile on. I think the odds are clue enough.

Scottish football is like any other country's football.

The fans dont have much of a say in anything, its purely business.

They do when they're paying the entrance fee.

Celtic's attendance at home to Motherwell last week was their lowest in the SPL since 1995.

I can't see the Celtic fans accepting another import from the Championship, not after the disaster that was Mowbrays time in charge.

For the minute I'd just put this down to idle paper talk set on distrupting the clubs preparations for the play-offs
