BILLY DAVIES celebrated an astonishing end to his Forest rescue act by pledging to spend big to seal glory next season.
Davies beat the odds to keep Forest in the Championship on the back of a six-game unbeaten run.
And he toasted this win by launching a £2.5million double bid for QPR’s Dexter Blackstock and Lee Camp.
Davies will also ask to take Spurs defender Chris Gunter again on a long-term loan.
He revealed: “Transfer talks have begun and I’m meeting my board next week to discuss further plans. I want two players for every position, most of them on long-term contracts including five, or even six, quality strikers.”
Davies was near despair at half-time, having seen his side fall behind against doomed Saints.
He added: “We looked like we were thinking about holidays on the beach rather than football.
“But that all changed. The players again demonstrated that, while we may be short of some things, there can be no question about whether we have the bottle for a fight.
“Don’t forget, that’s with an average age of 21.4 years — the lowest in the Championship.”
Jason Euell hit a post within 60 seconds for the visitors before Bradley Wright-Phillips coolly rolled them in front.
Sub Joe Garner volleyed Forest’s equaliser after 72 minutes and then Luke Chambers headed in Chris Cohen’s corner to make it 2-1 four minutes from time.
Rob Earnshaw grabbed his 17th goal of the season in injury-time.
Saints caretaker manager Mark Wotte said: “I’d like to stay. But we are in administration, will lose players and will start next August with a 10-point deduction. Big decisions are pending.”
