Billy Sharp, Peter Whittingham

Hi All,

I have second hand info which suggests Billy Sharp is at the City Ground today for an interview.

Also, Cardiff are keen on a swap deal involving Peter Whittingham and Rob Earnshaw. Whittingham's wage demands are proving difficult to agree on though.

Wonder if we have to swap Earnie to stand any chance of getting whittingham? If so, surely the money from earnie's wages must go some way to covering Whittinghams?

Or the classic bamboozler "What would you say your weaknesses are?" without you being allowed to say you are a perfectionist.

Hi Leftfull,

Thanks for your reply. It's nice to receive a welcoming message like yours in response to my first ever post!

I cannot answer your questions i'm afraid.

Let's see what transpires. I shared this info as i have it on reasonably good authority.

Cheers,
Mark

Has anyone thought (stupid question I know), that with footballers its probably the other way around. He's probably got more questions about Forests ambition and where they see themselves in 12 months and how often he'll get a game?

welcome to the forum by the way, and info is welcome even if it doesn't transpire! Ignore the reply above! Maybe he was just telling you to do it cuz he finds he gets such pleasure from gusting himself??

I would imagine his agent does most of the negociating, all they want is big signing on fee and fat contract, plus gaurantee of first team football for their player.

Kinda hope this turns out to be BS as I don't thinks he's better than what we've got! If earnie goes then PLEASE give garner a chance!

For starters anybody who has had an interview will know it works both ways and the footballers and agents will no doubt be interviewing the club as much as the other way round.

Cheers for the info mate, wil be interesting to see what happens, not everybody is a w**ker on here so stick around and lets see if your rumour comes true.

If this were to happen I would think it would probably be a good deal.

Same as the suggested sale of Cohen would only be o.k if Pratley and Shorey were to come in as a result. One decent replacement and a quality player in a weak area of our squad has to be good business.

Would be better if we could strengthen and keep hold of our better players though.

so what dose the player not get to speak to bily and nigel etc before he signs

i should hope they do have some form of interview or meeting to dicuss each others plans and if theyll fit in etc

Cardiff have been operating under a transfer embargo since the end of the season, due to the winding-up order hanging over them.

As a result Jones has yet to strengthen his squad for next season, while he seems certain to lose Wales midfielder Joe Ledley.

Ledley, 23, is out of contract and seems set to sign for Premier League side Stoke City, managed by compatriot Tony Pulis, although Cardiff would be due a compensation payment for developing the player as he is still under 24.

Cardiff will hope to negotiate new contracts with the likes of key players Jay Bothroyd and Peter Whittingham, or else see them depart as free agents at the end of next season.

Hmmm, transfer embargo means no buying of new players, but where does swapping palyers fit into this ?

If we got Sharp, it would soften the blow of Earnshaw leaving.

I'm against losing our best goalscorer but getting someone younger who also scores goals wouldn't be so bad.

We could do with someone that doesn't miss as many chances as Earnshaw.

I'm guessing swapping is also not allowed - I thought a transfer embargo was basically not allowing a club to take on the registration of any new players, although registering out of contract players was ok - I'm sure Pompey managed that last season.

I would assume it wouldn't be allowed. Can you even sign out of contract players under an embargo?

I did think cardiff embargo had been lifted, seemingly not though.

If any club can find a way around Football League rules (not including Leicester and Leeds) then Cardiff are that club. Cheating bastards.

Good morning everyone I was in Sheffield on business yesterday and was at Bramall Lane well the Copthorne Hotel (for those who don’t know that is the Hotel on the site of Bramall Lane Football Ground right near the Westfield Stand. Anyway meeting over I decided to have a look round and was walking past the main entrance when I saw Kevin Blackwell furiously talking into his phone. After a few minutes he finished talking on his phone and a little boy went up and asked for his autograph and the dad (well I assume it was his dad) asked “Mr Blackwell what was that about” Kevin’s response was that “Bloody Forest have just brought Billy Sharp” obviously on hearing this my interest grew so I walked over a bit closer, the little boys dad asked “how much for?” Kevin refused to answer this but said that “Nathan Tyson is coming on loan to us for the season” unfortunately at this point a big black Range Rover sport pulled up and Blackwell got in, so obviously I couldn’t find out anything else.

In our current team I would be willing to put money on Billy Sharp scoring more goals than Earnie not only that but you get the added benefit that Sharp actually tracks back and seems to put a hell of a lot more effort into his game. Why do people overate Earnie so much? If he was this great player that everyone yarns on about why doesnt he play both home and away games?

I would much rather have Sharp than Earnie and he has pretty much cemented this in my brain by scoring against us practically every time he has played against us.
