Billy seems quiet

With a lot of speculation in the bag, there seems to have been very little action where incoming transfers are concerned. Nevertheless, our usually vocal Billy Boy hasn't made any noises whatsoever despite the lack of signings.

I am treating this as a good sign. What do you lot think?

Early days? It is only a week until our first friendly and less than a month until the season kicks off. They've had two months to get cracking on this.

How long before Chippers or Colin Frey interviews somebody at Forest? We can usually count on them to grill the manager and get some info!

Patience is a virtue. Gunter and Mckenna said they WOULDN'T sign for forest in a BBC interview last season. Blackstock scored in a friendly for QPR and said he was looking forward to the new season and planning with qpr. Then they all sign weeks later.

Am I right in saying that we've spent more this summer than any other Championship cluib so far in our purchase of Majewski?

Who have all these other clubs signed for us to be scared of?

The only decent signing I remember is Kris Boyd to Middlesborough.

Certainly not a bad sign... unless he's sticking to something agreed wiht ND in that meeting they had?

Oh, it's all just paranoid bollocks isn't it? We're shopping at teams with no manager, no money, etc and these teams will have a situation that looks different from hour to hour, which will have an effect on how quickly both clubs and players are willing to set anything in stone.

BREAKING NEWS THOUGH:

"Billy Davies says he only found out about Perch sale after deal was done. More at 5.30 on the radio and East Midlands Today at 6.30. #nffc"

was just tweeted by @Matchtalk so maybe we'll get some news soon.

Col

still here...
According to David 'matchtalk' Jackson on Twitter, Billy Davies didn't know of any interest in Perch until after he was sold....

There may be trouble ahead :nowink:

I can't believe that Perchy going was not agreed by Billy. Maybe he didn't know when the sale was made, but he surely was happy to let it happen. If he starts that paranoid TAP stuff again (even though he's part of that panel) I'll totally lose all respect for him. If we fail to get some or even any of our ambitious targets, who will he blame? It will be the players who choose not to come. Do we really want to pay players £18,000 per week? Our 3 main targets last Jan slipped through the net because 2 went to prem clubs and one played for a promotion rival who did not want to sell. I don't know why Billy made such an issue of it. Or perhaps he was trying to deflect criticism for our poor performances over the 2nd half of the season, caused mainly IMHO by poor team selection. I hope he isn't searching for excuses so early on.
'We had a bad start because ..............
1. Perch was sold
2. Pratley decided to go to a prem club
3. Whittingham decided ditto.
4. Shorey decided likewise.'
Could start to get boring again. I hope it isn't this but it wouldn't surprise me!!!!!

I can see this kind of grumbling goaning on with the media for the whole season. It'll be;

-we've been unsuccessful because of the TAP/ players being sold

or

-we've been successful in spite of the TAP/ players being sold.

I agree and of course he knew that Perch was being sold.
Billy is a ****, which is fine while ever everyone's pulling in the same direction. You put up with him because he has a good record at this level. The thing with him is knowing when the balance has tipped into destructive rather than constructive. That interview doesnt fill me with much hope that his 'sulk' since January has abated.

Billy said he handed his list of targets in may/start of june but since that happened=no new signings.

didnt' billy and the bored say they wanted new players in? At the moment we have sold without replaceing the once that have been sold.

come on forest, lets get going. we are behind afew teams at the moment on signings plus most sides we're back in training before us.

Well as far as I'm concerned there have been plenty of rumblings consistently about the same players so there is clearly no smoke without fire. The length of time it has taken to get nowhere is what concerns me, along with the lack of rumblings about a backup plan.

Last season we slightly overachieved on our great run, getting 3 points when in some cases we arguably deserved none. When our luck ran out we hit a bad patch and didn't seem to have much of a plan B.

The strange thing is that our strong home form was not mirrored by away. Clearly one system was working for us whilst another didn't. Forest have always been a team that lose when we have a defensive mentality and win when we push on. I would have loved to see more of Earnie away from home last season.
