Billy Post Match

Apologises if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but I was rather surprised to hear BD say yesterday that he knows who his starting X1 are going to be for the Playoff games.

I did find this rather bizarre as I thought he would be trying to keep players on their toes and giving the fringe players that may play in the next 2 matches some hope of forcing their way into his thoughts for a starting place.

I just don't see what he has gained for that comment and believe even if his team is decided in his head , he shouldn't have made that public.

I think listening to it he is expecting to finish 3rd or 4th because he mentions the away play off team which indicates that he will use different players for each leg. I trust the guy.

I've just listened to it again and he does seem to back track later on in the interview when he talks of players forcing themselves into the side.

Stop fecking with my head Billy! :)

I think Billy realised that he had made a mistake in saying that he already knew the team, which is why he tried to backtrack.

Yup, did sound that way. Its not easy to answer these questions on the spot, I'm not moaning.

Nice to know we were just treating the game as a friendly too, I now don't care about the result!

Just watched it on OS, he seemed the most relaxed we've seen him for a while.

Not surprisingly , forest is already in the playoffs. He can already start to plan early and make preparations. Unlike Leicester & swansea who could still be replaced by Blackpool , Forest have no such worries and can afford to rest some players.

To be fair, if Billy's including his bench in that statement then the team has pretty much chosen itself.

I expect, however, that there will continue to be competition within the squad for a starting place. :)

Id go for, away leg;
Camp

Blackstock

Home Leg;
Camp

Chanbers Wilson Morgan Gunter

Cohen Moussi Majewski Anderson

Earnshaw Blackstock

This is all basing it on McKenna actually being injured.

Suppose itd be Tyson on the wing then. Might be a better option, but Tyson has been shit recently so I left him out.

Well it hasn't worked well over the last 8 or so away games as it!

Why do people so willfully forget Billy's own advice about interpreting his comments to the media? ;)

Personally, in the away leg I'd play a midfield 4 of:

Anderson - Moose - Cohen - Boyd

Chris Cohen is THAT good in the middle of the park, that I'd try and play him there. Whether including Boyd (or indeed Tyson, although as you say, he hasn't exactly been pulling up trees recently) will be deemed too much of a gamble remains to be seen.

Stick Majewski in behind Blackstock and I think you've got a decent line-up there. Alternatively, drop Boyd, put Cohen left, bring Raddy into the middle and put Earnie up top with Dex.

I worry about Majewski in tough away games though - he's not the biggest (not his fault) and if it's a battle, which if we play Fester or Blackpool it will be, then he might not be massively effective.

I wouldn't chance Boyd in the away leg, simply because he can't defend.

I agree. Boyd would be lucky to make my bench for the away leg, but could make a big impact at home - maybe from the start but more likely from the bench if we are struggling.
