Billy Davies

Just been reading a couple of interviews on the NEP website. It seems like Billy Davies is doing a very good job in getting the players moral up to where it should be. You see the likes of McGugan and McCleary who are praising the manager, since he's making them more confident, and more willing to work hard to achieve what's expected of them!

So once again, great credit to Billy Davies!
He's brought hope back to this club! :)

I like Davies, but take this type of interview as a piece of sterile space filling, with the close season rapidly approaching and the new Managers clear out threatening, no one is going to refer to him as a bullying knob head or similar are they ?

The only bad thing he's done is cause an influx of ankle injuries - it turns out even Earnie had one.. rather than a knee ligament injury!!

Its cool how he's switched googy from being hyped up by CC to being a fat lad that needs to sort his game out. And googy agrees now. class.

May I be the first to say I still don't rate him and it wouldn't suprise me a jot if he's gone by this time next year. He has done a job for this season though, so credit for that I guess

You don't rate him even his with his record in this league?!

I didn't want him at first, I'll admit, but because of the stories that were being milled about.

Bit of a rocky start, rubbed up the fans the wrong way. I wasn't sure if he was the right man either, especially after the D*rby defeat. I thought it was looking desperate after our non-activity in the transfer window, absolute top marks to the man for being shrewd in the loan market for one and even more amazingly getting them to gel together at just the right time.

Mission not accomplished yet though

Let's not get carried away as Billy hasn't saved us from relegation... yet. I can't help thinking back to the year when we were 2-0 up in the play-offs after the first leg and everyone was celebrating as though we we already at Wembley. Yes, things are looking up for once but I, for one, will not be lauding Billy until we are mathematically safe. Let's just hope that happens this Saturday!

A final thought... let's not forget that Joe Kinnear was our 'messiah' when he saved us from relegation to League One. We all know how that story ended!

I said I didn't want him. I feared a Megson style fascist regieme which with the already swelling numbers of dissenting fans would have been the final nail in the coffin. I was clearly wrong about his style and choice in players, I'm glad to say. No embarassing antics on the touchline, no sending substitues up the line to bellow at defenders. Just standard 4-4-2, big man/little man up front, chuck a defender on when you're winning, sign the players that we desperately needed like a full back, centre mid and striker.

An excellent job all round.

No wonder my post count..
Even if we still go down, I have the ultimate respect for Billy. I wouldn't have anyone else right now.

I didn't like him at first. I wanted Clough. Aside from the slight misgivings I get when I hear Sheffield Utd fans calling us a dirty team I am delighted with him.

I've always said I'd give him a fair chance and he has taken it. He is very professional and makes sure the team are too. His loan signings have been good and the football is not the hoofball we were lead to believe by Derby fans.

I have been very impressed by the way him and Earnshaw have buried the hatchet.

If we get two wins from our last two games then Davies's average points per game is good enough to put us around the playoffs.

That's coming in half way through a bad season. With a fresh start, a full preseason and his own players we could manage a playoff spot next year.

I would much rather have those kind of hopes and play a bit of cynical football than be a nice team who struggle.
