Billy Davies -- Shifty?

the mask of zorro

I thought long and hard about whether to post my opinion here, as I know I will get attacked for being negative, but I was already becoming concerned that BD was having veiled digs at the club re the transfer window (It was his digs at the chairman in interviews while at the Sheep that eventually got him sacked), before I watched the interview after the game on Wednesday.
Why is it, that he cannot look the interviewer in the eye whilst he is talking to him, I've always had this thing that if someone can't look me in the eye while I talk to them, I can't trust them.

I really, really hope I'm wrong but I just have this feeling that he isn't going to be here long term.

Over to you

I read an interview were he said he had no problems with ND or the transfer situation. Said it was explained to him before he took job and is fine. Slagged chairman at Derby but that is fine by me. So no do not think he is shifty. Arrogant, direct and self opinionated yes but I remember another previous manager who was like that also....

Excellent point, but he would look anyone in the eye.

I think he would like to but his neck gives him jip when he has to keep looking up...........I get your point though. I do harbour a feeling that loyalty is not massively high on his personal list of attributes but I do not think he has been slagging the club or ND off just yet.

Not shifty just totally ignored them and slagged them off to their faces most of the time but they loved it. Different man and different era, more old school and less spread sheet driven. Loved it!!

I believe modern thinking on tell tale signs of lying says that avoiding eye contact is not a sign of lying but rather a sign of being uncomfortable in the situation. Instead someone who holds eye contact for an extended period of time may be doing so in order to cover up for the fact that they are not telling the truth - many people believe that not looking someone in the eye is a sign of untruthful behavior so tend to disguise this by staring into the person they want to convince's eyes. I know from personal experience that I have no problem in looking in someones eyes while I tell them white lies (and I dont think I am sociopath or anything).

But having said that I do get the feeling that BD does give off a sense that something is amiss - he was like that with derby - he reacted in a manner that made him seem like he was paranoid and over reacting - Originally I was against his appointment because of this.

I hope it is not a sign of things top come - I cant imagine him taking the crap a lot of the previous managers have put up with - If ND, MA and co. believe in Billy as a manager they should get behind him 100% he has obviously galvanized the squad - it needs new faces to stay in this league and to compete next year. I think we all know if we dont back him Billy will walk ...

one thing for sure if he does leave I think he will let everyone know what the real state of the club is, I often wonder what the hell megson was hinting at when he had his hint at the problems the backroom staff cuased while he was there.

:D I still want to know who the 'mole' in the club was that Megson was constantly ranting on about! Was it Alan Rogers or someone else?

For sure BD has yet to open himself to the divine and embrace himself fully. The signs are obvious. His arrogance is merely compensation for huge insecurities that in time will eat him from within and steer him away from his true path.

Cosmic murmurings tell me that 'Johnny Walker' is currently helping him to come to terms with his demons. Let's hope he seeks different counsel before it's too late.

well said - its not often we get enlightened wisdom from the mouth of a deity on here - we used to get the Buddha on here at one time but I think he is too fat to get about much these days.

just heardon radio nottingham that he has had to change his aproach to management with fores, as we have alot of young kids in the side, so I imagine he is choosing not to bully them in the dressing room then and uses a little encouragement using possitives to highlight a negative, although theres some players that need a kick up the arse at times.

Anyone else spot the PVH in this thread. It's not me. I'm out of email addresses.

You cannot accuse anyone of not giving eye contact who is (a) blind or, (b) has a severe eye infection.

What it might be is that he has cooked a curry and after chopping up the chilli's accidentally wiped his eye.

Two things you should not do after chopping chillis - wipe your eye, caress your anal membrane. Most people know that but it's not well known in Scotland.

Oh, three things, avoid circumcision.
