Billy Davies linked with Villa

Martin Jol, name I haven't heard for a while.

I doubt they'd risk him, if MON walked because of funding for transfers. And Davies and everyone sorting out their differences (if there even were any).

Doubt it.

I think the job is a bit too high for him, they'll probably want proven premier experience I'd imagine, admittedly stranger things have happened, like a man getting a job because of his surname down the a52. For some reason I feel less bothered about losing Davies now though, if we don't get anyone in then playing in the same way with the same team won't get us up this season, we would be found out even more than we are away from home. Also if Oneill is unhappy with transfer situations I can't see Davies liking it much!

Jol was on the verge of joining Fulham wasn't he? I love Jol, he was great at Spurs. They were harsh to ever get rid of him.

Davies wouldn't like it at Villa, he'd fall out with the chairman after he refuses to shell out £5 million for Lee Camp. :nowink:

Dearie me.

Aren't Villa also after Kevin Blackwell? It always makes me laugh that Dave Jones gets touted with all these jobs, when he's been given unlimited funds at Cardiff and has failed to get them promoted...

Blackwell is rated lower than a snake's belly at the Blunts and he specialises in pi55ing the players off. Villa will go for a manager who doesn't irritate either chairman or players, so I think you can rule out Blackwell and Davies (not that you were ruling them in!).

When you say linked, do you mean a bookmaker whose speculating by offering odds for an outsiders to get a job.

Blackwell was sarcasm, but the Dave Jones link is real, well according to the Times, but they reckon that Mark Hughes may yet go to Villa...

I would be pretty happy with a swap
I wouldn't, the biographer for Larry Lloyds book called into to Talksport the other morning to discuss the sort of person MON is. The phrase "A big Child who often throws his toys out of the pram if he doesn't get his own way" "Stubborn" & "Once he has his mind set on something he will not change it" were 3 of many phrases she used and she quoted a couple of quotes from Brian Clough about Martin O'Neil. There are other stories of buying players, putting them on huge wages and not playing them, then refusing to sell... I would prefer we steer well clear of O'Neill.

Sounds the same as Davies then lol

Sounds like BD anyway. lol

Similar to Billy maybe, but by the sounds of it a lot bigger ego!!

Well he has achieved more.
Yes, but he has been in the managerial business a lot longer and been afforded the opportunity... I concede managers have to be arrogant, but there has to be some element of humility. Give BD the tools O'Neil had and I would expect the same or similar results...
