Billy and promotion

Ok , do not post on here often but here goes.

The reason billy does not want us to get promotion this year is the fact that if we do and are bottom after 10 or so games in prem he will get the sack.

If we were to give him some security that this would not happen then i think 2 things would happen.

1. We would def get promoted and he would start saying as much.

2. If we did get relegated after first season in prem he would def get us back up the following season. Hence why he wanted a longer contract.

If you think my thread was crap why bother replying to it ??

Just wondered what peoples views were but your replies make me sick when we are supposed to follow the same team.

By the way i have followed Forest since 1968, how about you ??

I was about to get started on this forum but WTF?

The bloke has asked for your opinions on a Forest debate and you arrogant f***ers slate him, I take it this is YOUR forum then?

Skipping over the childishness, I thought Billy had actually started to admit that promotion is on the agenda. His claims otherwise before I think were just gameplaying in the media regardless, he's got plans and the way that the team are coming together may be a bit ahead of his expectations...

... although I wouldn't mind seeing us tie him up to a decent sized contract.

Exactly, but he must also and is thinking that unless we extend his contract he would be better off not getting us promoted ??

I agree with Winnits. Billy wants to be back in the Prem, and all his talk is mind-games and taking pressure off the team. We may well be exceeding expectations, but have no doubt that Billy is not scared of us going up. And I hope that, should we be bottom after 10 games in the Prem, Doughty will have the foresight to keep Billy in and let him build, even if that includes relegation (which obviously comes with the lucrative parachute payments).

I'm not so sure his current contract would make him want to avoid promotion.

Forest's typical way of operating is performance-related enhancements on a relatively low basic contract - not quite sure whether that stretches to the manager - but I would imagine that promotion would mean good things for Billy's bank balance.

cant see that - another promotion puts his stock up and increases his bargaining power (either with us or potentially other clubs) so intentionally failing to get promotion would make no sense...

That would only increase his bargaining power with other Championship clubs though (if we looked odds-on to get relegated). Billy has a burning desire to make a success of himself in the Premiership and two successive disasters would put Premiership clubs off (even if it is due to a lack of support in the boardroom).

Yeah, lay off the geeezeer, he's asking a decent question.

If we do go up, lets face it we will more than likely struggle, so no doubt some fans will be getting on BD's back. I just hope we get up and give King Billy time. Even if we come back down the one thing we will have is a top manager.

Im sure BD's up to his mind games and believes we can win promotion - ffs, he's been watching the same games as us so he must know were good ;D! If we go up, his stock rise with us (and probably his ego) but we have had a few down the years with bog ego's who have done ok - one springs to mind ;D

BD is the best thing that has happended to our club for years and whatever happens from now until the end of the season he is still the best man for the job. However, BD's a winner so anything other than promotion im sure he'l be thinking inside he's failed considering how well weve done up to now!

Don't know why, but I've just posted this once and it didn't post. If I end up with 2 posts that are similar then sorry it must be operator error on my part and before anyone starts on me then I am sorry already OK. Here goes.

I have to agree with the guys who are complaining about the childish replies. I have been reading this forum for a couple of years and normally enjoy it, I have only just started posting. Already I am getting catty childish replies about spelling etc.

Not necessary. Just for the record I'm 47 and have a season ticket. I support the reds and am only interested in a bit of fun and banter, am I on the wrong site? :nowink:

Shouldn't be.

There can be a feeling of cliquey-ness in some instances because many of the members here have gotten to know one another, however that shouldn't be taken as exclusivity that isn't open for other people to partake in.

If people feel they are being responded to in an unfair manner then I would suggest either ignoring it or using the 'Report to moderator' link under the post in question.

Not at all (as long as you're not Glen reborn :D). So long as you make an effort with spelling, people don't generally mind. If you read the forum rules though, text speak isn't considered acceptable but you don't appear to have used this particular method of communication.

Welcome aboard 8).

I wonder if Billy is trying to string his career out a bit.

If Doughty has a plan for Premiership football in, say, 2 years - would Billy be shooting himself in the foot if he did it in 1 year ?

You'll fit be fine.

You soon get over the nerves posting in fear of being shot down. It gets heated at times but so does a discussion down a pub! :)

Not much wrong with your communication skills, it's the text speak that winds people up most. Granted, it degenerates at times, but that's a good point to go and make a cuppa! :D

There are some lovely folks on here and I've made some great friends.

If he took a second team straight into the Premiership he'll be doing his cv no harm at all.

If we were to go up I hope we'd stick by him, because if it does go pear shaped and we go straight back down he'll have made the club totally solvent again and deserve a second go - besides which - he'd clearly be the best man availiable to take us straight back up!

Discount his Derby career in the top division - He got an aging team of third division standard cloggers up and wasn't given the time or money to keep them there. He's a good manager.

This is one we should really stick by and with.
