Billy Davies has called on football's authorities to scrap transfer windows and allow deals to take place throughout the season.

The Nottingham Forest boss dislikes the uncertainty that surrounds periods within the season when clubs can complete permanent deals.

At present clubs can buy and sell players during the close season up until August 31 and during January.

But Davies would love to see football revert back to the old system that allowed business to be conducted until the transfer deadline in March.

"The fact that the transfer window overlaps the start of the season gives managers major difficulties," he told us on the eve of Forest's latest npower Championship date against Norwich at The City Ground (kick-off 3pm).

"It creates a lot of uncertainty around clubs and causes chaos - and not only that, it allows many people to hold guns to the heads of other individuals, in terms of agents and other clubs and negotiations.

"That's what makes the transfer window so difficult.

"No one will be able to convince me that being able to buy and sell players all the way through the season and to do it properly is not a better option."

IMO clubs should be allowed to release players 24/7 but only sign them on during the closed season (making allowance for players moving from one country to another). At the start of matchday #1 the managers and fans should know who their squad is - and Flagman should know when they'll be playing!

It doesn't sound like he's happy with the transfer window does it, and yes, us having signed ****-diddly-all again is a good candidate for why.
 
now all we need is the MA over inflated price, made offers but no one wants to come to forest, been trying very hard will have to explore loan window statement and then this window will all be concluded.

please prove me wrong and sign someone

When the transfer window was introduced many football league managers thought it only applied to the prem. I'd be ok with that.
 
In a way I have to say I prefer the transfer windows.

I remember when collymore was here, when we finished 3rd, and it seemed every single day he could be on his way to man united or somewhere else. You never knew if he was still going to be here from one game to the next. There was just non stop uncertainty around him.

At least with the transfer window, that sort of shenanigans only happens for 1 month during the season, and then in post season.

I agree, although it would be better if the window closed just before the first game of the season.
 
Yeah, Id agree with that.

I guess they leave it open abit longer, to account for if clubs pick up early injuries or something? But it usually ends up with players getting unsettled, like mascherano for example.
 
The other problem you can have with the Transfer Windows is certain well-off clubs stockpiling players so nobody else can sign them (i.e. Man City and Chelsea).

If those two hoovered up many players between them, the other clubs can then struggle to recruit, as top players will go where the most money is I guess!

I noted on Radio 5 this morning, there were calls to ban loans between Premier League clubs again as a kind of deterrent to the stockpiling of players?
 
Its a moronic rule IMO. To the best of my knowledge in no other profession are such restrictions placed on the employment of individuals.
 
If the transfer window was gone, where would Grant Holt put himself next time the Sky cameras turn up at Carrow Road?
 
Why would Forest put this up four days before the window closes if it is a suggestion that we arent going to sign anyone? Just doesnt make sense. Surely if they were trying to give off hints that they arent signing anyone they would just leave it this late on until the window closes and no one is signed then they could just give it the usual speil about how we tried, couldnt agree deal etc etc etc.

All transfer activity at the CG has been quiet the last week or so and Im hoping and it is a big hope that everyone has been busy sorting out deals for some new additions and all this other crap has just been a smokescreen. It is only a tiny bit of hope though
 
It's funny how Forest complain about transfer windows being difficult to operate in, yet other clubs manage it fine.

I dislike them though; transfers are such an integral part of football, clubs should be able to conduct business when it suits them, not when FIFA stipulates it.

That would lead to a load of Prem players on loan in the Championship a la Bellamy, creating a true Premiership 2, with whoever can pay the most in wages being able to bring in the better Prem players.....either that or they'll all get a season abroad somewhere.

Yes this could be aimed at the two selling clubs i.e yet again we are prepared to wait, so no we are not upping our bid on the table.
 
I honestly think we've been out-priced in our bids for Prats and Whitts, and Billy is just moaning about the craziness that happens every transfer window when the board has a limited amount of time to get in players in, that its taking more and more money to prise players from clubs and how the rumours go into hyperdrive.
